About L'Escargot

Greek Street is probably the heart of Soho and L'Escargot Restaurant is surely the heart of Greek Street, one of London's most fashionable and well-established eateries. The ground floor restaurant, with mirrored walls and work by artists such as Miro and Chagall, buzzes with life and excitement.

Toptable says about L'Escargot

Like a cat with its nine lives, this little snail has risen again and again to dizzy culinary heights, and right now it is riding higher than ever. The Master's name may be on the marquee, but the kitchen is under the confident control of rising star Joseph Croan. The Ground Floor restaurant is the less formal - and less expensive - of the two dining rooms. Upstairs, The Picasso Room features original works by Picasso and Matisse, as well as tall ceilings, elegant decor, a discreet ambience, and fleet-footed service. This is haute cuisine in a fine dining setting, and most appropriate for business entertaining, making a massive impression on the love of your life, or celebrating life's milestones.

L'Escargot was a delight but not for the young as my teenage daughter protested due to the lack of Hand Cut Chips or French Fries on the Menu, but on the whole certainly my cup of tea. The service was efficient and friendly and very relaxing. A bit stuffy not the sort of the place for a girls night out and bit of banter more a couples environment, in the whole a very tasty meal and an astonishingly reasonable wine list.

Whilst the venue has the same charm of a few years ago, the food at L'Escargot has not, now very tired and unexciting, save for one excellent desert, the prune and armangac tart. Service, although attentive, was difficult as our waiter's English was very limited.

L'Escargot was excellent again. Their fixed price Valentine's Day menu at £70 was interesting. When we asked for snails instead of one course, the chef made some especially!

My partner and I dined at L'escargot for our Anniversary. The food was exquisit, cooked perfectly. The service did seem a little rushed, although they were not too busy. They were aware that it was our anniversary and presented our desserts with 'happy anniversary' written on the plates in chocolate!! Fantastic touch! A great restaurant for engrossed conversations as the music was low with a quiet buzz of people around us. Beautiful decor as well. We will definately go there again!
