Bumpkin disappointed. Cute ambience, reasonable prices but let down by average food and service. Chicken liver parfait OK but not the best; soup good; chicken dry and lacking flavour; macaroni cheese a real let down, especially as it should be so simple to do well.
Bumpkin is a cosy quaint place with great hearty food. Good wines, lovely service.
Honestly, Bumpkin is amazing, hands down the food is so fantastic, i love it!!!
We visitied Bumpkins for Sunday lunch and the roast menu has something for everyone. Attentive and friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and great food. My husband's beef was practically shivering but it said rare on the menu so he should have picked up on this and we all commented we could have done with more veg as we shared a dish between the 4 of us but otherwise the food was excellent - the sticky toffee and fig pudding was especially delicious. We will return.
Service was a bit patchy as some of our sides were forgotten and we had to ask for them. The mackerel main course was not filleted well and had many bones. The cheese after dinner was served directly from the fridge and needed time to breathe. However the pate starter was delicious.
