About The Lobster Pot

For more than fifteen years, The Lobster Pot in Kennington has been serving proper French food to their loyal South London regulars. The restaurant is well known for its kitsch nautical décor so it’s no surprise that fish and seafood features heavily on the menu. It’s all hand-picked at Billingsgate Market to ensure that only the freshest fish swims your way. Popular dishes include pan-fried fillet of grouper with Cajun spices and white butter sauce; traditional bouillabaisse; and grilled tiger prawns with garlic butter. There are meat and vegetarian options too and the pancakes for dessert are not to be missed. The Lobster Pot’s friendly staff and excellent French wine list make it ideal for a laid-back dinner with friends.

The Lobster Pot in Kennington was absolutely superb. Ambience is charmingly maintained to the effect that you are put in mind of a boat gently lolling somewhere off the coast of France. The food was excellent. My girlfriend and I went for the '8 course surprise' menu. Every dish was delicious, and the chef was good enough to alter his cooking ingredients to cater for my girlfriend's intolerance for dairy. He did this with impressive skill. Will definitely be going back. What a find!

We had dinner at the Lobster Pot for my fiance's 40th birthday. Who would've thought you could get *amazing* seafood in Kennington?!? We had the 8 Course Surprise and can't recommend it highly enough. One word...unbelieveable!! We will definitely be back!

Fabulous fresh fish at the Lobster Pot in Kennington. Starters of baked razor clams and oysters baked with champagne and parmezan were very tasty, and my main of nile perch was one of the best I've ever eaten. His seabass stuffed with prawns was also good. Nice wine, friendly and attentive service and the fun little room made it an excellent evening.

Our party of 5 enjoyed dinner at the Lobster pot. We had seafood platters, oysters and bouillabaisse, tiger prawns and perch. All seafood seemed fresh and well seasoned. It's not a cheap place to eat and be prepared to spend a lot if you want to fill up. The chef or owner? was a very friendly Frenchman and chatted to all his customers and put us at ease. The food was well cooked if not out of this world and service relaxed and not intrusive.

Our visit to the Lobster Pot last night was excellent. The food was superb. I can highly recommend the Nile Perch and the lobster of course. The cheese board is definitely worth trying too. The service is excellent too. Well worth visiting.
