Watatsumi

About Watatsumi

A stunning new Japanese restaurant, Watatsumi is located at 7 Northumberland Avenue, just off Trafalgar Square. Ex-Nobu head chef Peter Makohus has devised a bold contemporary menu upholding traditional Japanese techniques. Pull up a stool at the sushi bar to enjoy a tempting range of sashimi, nigiri sushi, maki and temaki rolls as well as tartars such as mixed seafood with truffle oil. The hot kitchen serves classic tempura and yakitori dishes alongside contemporary choices that include: roasted black cod, Wagyu beef, and US grain fed beef. The stylish bar is a great choice for a pre dinner aperitif with a superb selection of cocktails including the kumquat martini as well as a range of Japanese beers and an extensive wine list. The Omakase tasting menu showcases the restaurant’s signature dishes and chef’s recommendations and is the perfect introduction to this stunning restaurant set in a beautifully grand 19th century building.

We went to Watatsumi by Trafalgar Square with the 15% off TT offer. It was good but still quite expensive. The decor is minimal, understated and stylish. I had the sashimi selection which was fresh and delicious. Miso soup was tasty, as expected. Out of our party of six, we were all pleased with our food, but nothing was outstanding. Would still recommend though and might go back.

I went here lunch and booked the toptable £12.50 offer. i have to say the food was delicious and well worth the money. The food was slightly salty, but this is the only flaw. I would thoroughly recommend this if you enjoy Japanese food. The portions are generous and the miso soup was to die for!
