Discover London's history through its transportation
This is without doubt my favourite museum in London, illustrating how London’s many forms of transport – horse-drawn coaches, trams, trains, trolleybuses, the Tube – came to be and what it was like to use them (admittedly I am a bit of a train freak). You can climb aboard real life stagecoaches, trams and the famous red double-decker Routemaster buses and even have a go at driving an underground train in a simulator. Brilliant!
Informative & Interesting
Located in Covent Garden the refurbished museum has some excellent exhibits of London transport past and present.
L10 per adult admission fee and a nice way to pass a couple of hours. Some of the exhibits very well presented and very informative.
A lot of info about the underground and some good interactive things to try and keep the kids ocupied
Shop at the end with a wide range of books, clothing etc
Would recommend a visit if in London
A great afternoon out!
Not just for children , but for adults who are of an age to remember travelling on some of the means of transport now sadly out of service. A really good nostalgic and VERY informative afternoon. Lots of interactivity for all ages, plenty of loos and a REALLY good shop!
Nice & convenient
RECOMMENDED. It's a not a large museum, but has a reasonable entry price (kids are free), is right in the heart of Convent Garden and has a little something to offer everyone. This museum covers the history of the London Underground, how it was built, operates and the future. The value is in reading the various displays to get an appreciation of how it was constructed. There's enough for little kids to play on, teenagers can play with the various simulators and interactive display. Adult will find the most value in reading the history and admiring the various models on display.
Well worth the entrance fee
On our recent trip to London we decided to visit the newly refurbished London transport Museum.
The guidebooks are really cool and come in four colours, and we tried out their ticket stamping trail, which ensured we didn't miss a thing.
As it was a Sunday the place was pretty busy with children, but we still managed to get to try out the touch screens and get in all the vehicles.
Well worth a visit if you are in Covent Garden.

The artist who created The Great Bear - in which he replaced the names of stations on the London Underground map with names of film stars, explorers, philosophers, saints and celebrities - talks about his life and work. He will also explore the use of the written word and symbols in communicating information and meaning.
