L'Oranger
About L'Oranger
L’Oranger restaurant in London is the kind of special place you feared they weren’t making any more. It’s a pretty, polished French restaurant serving the classics of French cuisine. These seasonal works of art come from the kitchen of Laurent Michel who has served in triple-starred Michelin establishments in France before gracing St James’s with his savoir faire. The elegant dining room is lit by a glass-dome ceiling, filled with starched linen, fresh flowers and gleaming tableware and peopled with fleet uniformed waiters. Seasonally-changing Provencal dishes might include fillet of beef en croute with bone marrow and fourme d’Ambert cheese with veg cooked with rosemary barbajuans. Fine wines, superb cheeseboard, excellent service.

This was our 3rd visit to L'Oranger, and it never disappoints. Such a lovely restaurant with excellent food & service. Elegant, but not pretentious. Wonderfully creative dishes without being too fussy. The (4) diners in our party had a variety of mains; Dover sole, shellfish, beef & lamb and each dish was beautifully presented & delicious. L'Oranger is a little gem that is perfect for a romantic dinner or special occasion.
Food delicious and well presented but was glad someone else paid as its a little on the pricy side
Sensational meal today at L'Oranger in St James'. I go there very often but today was particularly good.
Very poor service for that level of restaurant. On at east 3 occasions. I had to seek eye contact for service. The service was pretty dour and characterless. The meal was ok but far from outstanding and far too overpriced. My feeling is coloured by the service level which fell well below my expectations for such a 'supposedly' top quality restaurant. On the plus side, it was atmosphereless which meant that I could have a good conversation with my guest.
I booked the private room for a corporate lunch at L'Oranger. The food and service were top class, however the private room rather claustrophobic, being a wood-panelled room in the basement, although the atmosphere in the main dining room is very pleasing. Overall, great food and service, but I wouldn't book the private room again and it is very expensive.
