Maharani

About Maharani

Set in the heart of the West End, Maharani – which means ‘Queen’ in Hindi – is certainly a jewel in the crown of the Soho dining scene. Inside, wooden floors, shades of burnt orange, and crisp white linen make for a stylish but unpretentious atmosphere. The menu will satisfy even the most demanding of diners, with an extensive selection of traditional Indian dishes, vegetarian options, regional specialties and tandoori dishes cooked in their authentic clay oven. We love their haleem – a dish of lamb, mixed lentils, barley and whole spices cooked overnight to create a unique taste and texture. Friendly service and a good range of wine and beers make Maharani a great choice for meals with friends and colleagues alike.

Lovely food - not your usual menu. Polite attentive service, but very long wait for our food - over and hour.

We had a very pleasant time at the Maharani, in London's Soho. Attentive, and rapid, and personal, service. We were particularly impressed by the food's presentation - sometimes a weakness in good Indian restaurants. The three supplied sauces were in contrasting colours, and very good. We shared a Tandoori main course, which was delicious. Lots of repeat customers. (We didn't finish it, and were pleased to see the owner discreetly pass the remains out, on a freezing night, to a homeless person)

Maharani, London We were slightly apprehensive about coming back here as we'd enjoyed it so much the first time we'd been. We needn't have worried - it was just as good as we remembered. The food here is delicious and we couldn't fault it. We'd especially recommend the potato cake starter and the chicken breast in spicy sauce (can't remember the names). The peshwari naan was the best we've tasted. Service was good too.
