Maharaja of India

About Maharaja of India

Handily situated right in London’s thriving theatreland is the Maharajah of India restaurant, a spot popular with tourists and Londoners looking for great food in a sea of choices. With its unassuming frontage it would be all too easy to pass the Maharajah of India by in favour of something with a little more bling. But head inside and you’ll find a cosy and welcoming restaurant with swift, efficient and friendly service. The excellent food is traditionally Indian with additional specialities, thalis and great sizzling dishes offered besides the usual. English dishes are also available while Indian sweets are a delight worth saving a little space for.

We went to the Maharaja of India, just off Leicester Square on a midweek evening. They were very prompt in taking our drinks order and providing some poppadoms, but got a bit confused when taking our food order - which became obvious when a couple of side dishes failed to turn up initially. They were quick to correct the mistake and the food itself was very good. Would recommend to people wanting no frills Indian, even if the service could be better.

Food took ages to come out, it tasted average at best, there was a draft coming through the door and to cap it off they tried to charge 15% service charge. I will not be going back.

Regulars to this restaurant. Great food and service in a central location. What is there not to love about The Maharaja???

We came here post-theatre late on a Friday night. The service was prompt, attentive and friendlly. We had the Lamb Karahi and the Chicken Jal Frezi - both of which were delicious. All in all, a very good restaurant and one which we would not hesitate to return to.

Very attentive staff, good food. Reasonably priced. Good value for money. Staff kindly offered a courtesy liquer at the end of the meal - nice gesture and much appreciate.
