Great meal at The Henry Root last night. It has a cosy neighbourhood restaurant feel to it with dim lights and a relaxed atmosphere. The food was good (not exceptional) my macaroni with truffle was delicious - perfect for a cold night! Our waitress was on her first day so was a bit unsure, but otherwise the staff were friendly and helpful in their matching lumberjack shirts. A slightly older clientèle (on a Wednesday night) but it felt quite sophisticated and eclectic. Would recommend.
This place is nice with a good atmosphere, but always just feels a little bit overpriced on certain dishes. Some are great - some are too expensive/tiny for the price. We had a very friendly waitress, but service was a little "American" style - ie, whisking plates away when other person not finished, and wine glasses when not yet quite finished. Had to keep saying "haven't finished that yet" . Intersting wines by the glass, but some staff don't seem to have great knowledge of many of them.
We had a large group booking and they could not have been more helpful. The food got great reviews from our team and the service was fantastic.
Becomming one of our favourite place, service a little slow but nice...
Excellent hanger steaks; squid not up to scratch - plancha not hot enough and chorizo barely heated through.
