Merkato Restaurant near Angel and Kings Cross in London. We decided to pop down to Merkato on a Friday night before heading out. It seemed like it was a bit off the beat and track but it is really only a 10 minute walk from Kings cross or Angel stations and well worth it, I tell you. The food and the service were great! . I would suggest taking the half portions and trying more dishes. They give you that option; so that you can share four dishes between to of you.
As usual a fantastic meal - been coming to this place for years. Nice to see them busier now too - lot's more walk ins, lots more reserved tables. Food as usual is absolutely fantastic.
Merkato was very different. My first introduction to Ethiopian food. Its a very small cafe like place with friendly, helpful staff. The food was tasty- some of it quite spicy. It was good to try but Its not going to become one of my favourite cuisines. Good value for money.
Had a lovely evening at Merkato. The restaurant looks and feels very authentic and the friendly waitress was helpful in making suggestions to us about what to order. The food was delicious and great value for money. It was quiet (it was Friday night and there was only us and one other table), but nevertheless it didn't detract from the experience. I would come here again for authentic Ethiopian food and great service. Not too far to walk up Caledonian rd from Kings Cross station.
We decided to try Merkato on the way to a party on Saturday night. It doens't look very impressive from the outside, but is really nice and friendly inside. The service is very good and helpful, and the food is tasty, although the wine is quite overpriced for the quality.
