Applebee's Fish
About Applebee's Fish
Applebee’s Fish restaurant and fish shop at the entrance to Borough Market in London’s Southwark is a family-owned fishmonger of the highest quality with a charming café attached. Applebee’s specialises in fish from British shores, mostly Cornwall, and they source line-caught fish as much as possible, so you can dine with a clear conscience. It is completely possible to choose your fish from the icy fish counter and have it prepared in the kitchen to your taste, but that would leave out the choices on the excellent daily-changing menu. Applebee’s fish menu – sorry, carnivores and vegetarians, it’s fish or fish – tends toward Italian/Mediterranean treatment of the main courses, and there are also simple grills and a fab fish and chips option. The wine list is global with most depth in the European wines and a nice selection of organic and biodynamic choices. The décor is simple and modern and with an open kitchen and famously gorgeous waitstaff.

Took visiting family to Applebee's Fish restaurant. They loved the whitebait and were impressed with the quality and taste of the fish. Loved the clam linguini, just wished for more clams. Always a great meal.
Great lunch spot to watch the Borough market traffic go past...
This was our first time at Applebee's Fish and we weren't disappointed. I was surprised how small the restaurant was. The tables at the back seemed quite close to each other, not ideal for a private conversation. We sat at the bar with a view of the kitchen and I would definitely recommend these seats. It's more private and the atmosphere is better too. Food was delicious, the best Whitebait starter ever! Service fast and attentive. I would recommend this place for sure.
Service was delightful again. The mixed seafood platter was delicious. The cod in poppy seed batter a little disappointing: lovely cod, but the batter was not really crisp. Same gripe as before concerning the one toilet.
Relaxed, informal, friendly and super food to boot!
