Mitsukoshi
About Mitsukoshi
Beginning life as one of London’s very first sushi restaurants, Mitsukoshi on Lower Regent Street goes from strength to strength even in the face of increasing competition. Critically acclaimed for over twenty years, Mitsukoshi combines a simple sushi bar with a more laid back restaurant area in which food can be lingered over alongside a glass of sake or a Japanese beer. The entire venue is very unfussy with décor kept clean and light without unnecessary frills and fuss to distract you from the equally unfettered food. Serving a full range of traditional and modern Japanese dishes, Mitsukoshi’s kitchen offers a variety of options to be enjoyed for their simplicity and freshness.

Mitsukoshi near Piccadilly Circus has very authentic Japanese food. We had Sukiyaki which was perfect for the winter. They cook it at your table and serve it to you too. However, it pays to pay a little attention to the beef while its cooking. I prefer mine a little bit under rather than over. Service was good. A little pricey but good quality.
I've been to this place many many times. This time, I wanted to have good sushi (I ordered a special Nigiri Sushi) which I hadn't had for a long time. Unfortunately, I was let down by its quality. The restaurant was busy (Sat lunch) and I guess the sushi chef didn't have enough time to pay attention to details. Many types of fish were missing from the regular menu! No o-Toro! I just hope that it was a bad day for Mitsukoshi.
good food and service
Mitsukoshi is in the basement of the eponymous department store in Lower Regent Street. Their `Early Bird` dinner offering is good value for money compared to other local Japanese eateries. Main course choice is 2 of 3 from steak/tempura/sashimi, with miso and rice. We enjoy the atmosphere and the prompt service, usually having a drink in the bar beforehand.
Mitsukoshi in Lower Regent Street is a reliable place for a tasty lunch. My wife had the daily special lunch of noodle and tuna which she really enjoyed. I had the bento which was a comfortable size of meal to consume prior to finishing the Christmas shopping.
