The Mitre
About The Mitre
Located on Holland Park Avenue, The Mitre is a W11 institution. Recently refurbished, this gastropub is popular with a chi-chi local crowd and is conveniently nestled between Notting Hill Gate and Holland Park tubes, making this a great place for sneaky midweek meals and lazy Sunday afternoon sessions away from the weekend crowds. Fitted with vintage lampshade light fittings and retro wallpaper, the restaurant at The Mitre is a stylish space and the menu is modern British at its best. We love The Mitre duck board to share piled with smoked duck prosciutto, rillettes, crispy duck with spiced oranges, duck liver, toast and pickles; and the saffron fish stew with fennel and garlic bread.

The Mitre has good and tasty food selection though the service on that particular day was very slow and they seemed to struggle with the amount of people sititng down to eat. When ordering the desserts, it took ages and seemed they were concentrating on delivering the main or starters to newly arrived people. We had to remind them twice about our desserts, they eventually arrived after 30 minutes. Friday nights aren't ideal for a quiet meal in a very noisy atmosphere, recommend a quieter night.
The Mitre in Holland Park was very busy on Friday night which made for a buzzy atmosphere but there was a problem with hearing my dining partner! Comfortable place, friendly staff and very good high end gastro pub food. I had the Oxtail with root vegetable stack served with brussel tops - absolutely delicious and generouos portion size and my friend had Chicken Kiev which was good but maybe a touch on the raw garlic side. Great wine - enjoyable night had, will return but on a week night.
The Mitre's food was outstanding, especially for a gastro pub. The service was excellent, but the waitress didn't like taking drink orders for some reason. There was a lot of noise as it was a Friday night, but overall I was very impressed and will definitely return.
The Mitre on Holland Park Avenue is great for Sunday lunch. Always rammed so best to book but my friends and I have eaten a lot of roasts and meals out and we think this is definitely the closest thing you can get to your Mum's Sunday roast (well my Mum anyway as she's a great cook). Big portions, amazing potatoes and fab puddings. Have a few glasses of wine, great food in a lovely chilled out place. Only downside is I was charged £2 for a glass of draft soda water but that's it!
Great pub for a Sunday lunch. Really nice venue and terrace. Would recommend this place. Good service too.
