A lively Persian restaurant, Khayam is located on London’s always busy Finchley Road, close to the Swiss Cottage tube station. Traditional in its approach to cuisine, Khayam has been built around the classic dishes of the Middle East, the menu featuring numerous healthy kebabs cooked to order, hearty stews flavoured with delicate and authentic spices and hot and cold mezze dishes as starters or indeed to share. After dinner, a small selection of desserts, straight from the historic Iranian kitchen, are chosen from rounding off a deliciously classic Eastern meal made in an all halal kitchen. While the menu might be highly traditional here at Khayam, the surroundings could not be much more modern, an all black and white scheme incorporating high backed leather seating, crisply dressed tables and contemporary art. It’s a comfortable, upmarket setting in which to enjoy good food unimpeded…or at least unimpeded until, should you visit over the weekend, the live music strikes up, pleasantly distracting you with the old sounds of Persia.
