About Star Ratings

The number of stars gives you an indication of accommodation standard, cleanliness, ambience, hospitality, service and food. Generally, the more stars, the higher the level of quality. Ratings range from 1 to 5 stars. Even a 1 star property will meet an acceptable minimum standard, whilst 5 stars promise excellence in all areas.

Each accommodation provider is inspected annually by a professional assessor. The standards vary depending on what type of accommodation is assessed – a 5 star hotel offers different services from a 5 star guest house or B&B.

Always look for the official star rating when you book your accommodation. This will ensure you have a great stay in London. Look for signs like those pictured here.
