Impoved but not there yet
Stayed for the standard pak & fly deal booked via an agency with an upgrade to a club room.
The lobby, bar and restaurant all recently refurbished so looking a bit smarter and brighter.
The room was pleasant enough but bathroom showing signs of age. TV is a big old fashioned CRT inside a cabinet - looks so dated now but has every international channel you could want.
Restaurant a la carte menu is good but a beautiful cut of steak is wasted when served with Mc Donalds type french fries. It brought proceedings to a complete halt asking for French mustard. Also, it took a very long time and came in at a very high price. Breakfast is good but expensive and the queue for seating at peak time was chaotic.
I have seen improvement here since giving it a bad review a year ago BUT they still have a way to go yet ...
Great Price, Poor Service
First, the good news. We had a really nice, comfortable room plus parking for our car while we were on holiday for a fantastic price.
Since we had an early flight to the US, we asked the concierge to book us a taxi for the morning. This appeared to be a very efficient system and our cab (which cost L15) arrived a few minutes before the due time.
Now, the bad news. Service was non-existent. Since there were no porters, we were obliged to carry our own luggage into the hotel and find our own room (easier said than done).
The hotel was very busy and appeared to have some large family gathering going on. There were a lot of children running around, some wielding snooker cues and balls from the snooker table in the lobby.
We therefore decided to give the restaurant a miss and ordered room service. This was expensive, but it arrived promptly and the food was very good.
Such a shame about the lack of service, but it WAS great value so perhaps you get what you pay for.
Renaissance Towers
We booked a double room in the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel months in advance through an agent and got a very good rate of 89 pounds per night excluding breakfast, but including car parking for 10 days. The walk-in rate is, I think, somewhere around 220 pounds per night.
The arrival and check-in went smoothly. The bags were taken into the room, the baby cot we had requested was already there. What I did have to ask for is cot sheets and a blanket. The room was clean but a bit stuffy. The bed was very large and comfortable with lots of pillows. We decided to have breakfast in the room the following morning so we ordered it the night before.
A few nasty surprises were awaiting us in the morning. The shower could only produce hot water. There was no way of regulating it. It took a hotel worker a while to realise that it was, in fact, out of order. Then we got a phone call from the restaurant to tell us that if we wanted breakfast in the room, we had to pay cash as they bring it because we had left no credit card details at check-in. Excuse me, no one asked us to, and my husband did find it unusual at the time. After a lot of arguing and talking to the duty manager, they delivered the breakfast gratis as a gesture of good will as we had to give the shower somewhat a miss and leave the hotel less refreshed than we would have liked before our flight.
The breakfast itself was good and sufficient: sausages and eggs, toast, pastries, fresh coffee, jam, the usual selection...
Checking out was also easy as it was all prepaid. And off we went, or rather, jumped on to the Hotel Hoppa bus that took us to Heathrow Terminal 1 for 4 pounds each.
General remarks – the hotel was not the quietest, you could hear the noise in the corridors but our room was not facing the runway so nothing to complain about, really. Cleanliness was adequate, the bathroom had the usual supply of toiletries… As long as everything and everyone works as they should, it can be good value for money.

Convenient
Stayed on 5th September (Room 1216)
Have stayed at this hotel before as a stopover before flying out from Heathrow. However, this was the first time that we had stayed on the runway side. It was also the first time that we had booked direct with the hotel, and this was probably one of the worst rooms we had had with the hotel.
The room was small, especially the bathroom and it was impossible to really dry oneself off in the bathroom and so had to go into the room to do this.
The door into the room was also narrow and we struggled with our suitcases.
The bed was comfortable, though the room was very hot and stuffy until we finally managed to get the air conditioning to kick in. The room was noisier than we had had in the past but we did just about manage to sleep through the noise of the planes.
The restaurant menu was limited and so we decided to eat at the bar. A burger cost L11-00 and seemed overpriced to me.
The Hoppa bus is now run by National Express and the fares have increased since our last visit L4-00 for a single (we paid around L5-00 return for our last stay), and these couldn’t be bought at reception.
Tea and coffee was supplied but no biscuits as we had had on previous stays.
better than expected
Had a late meeting in London so opted to stay here as could guarantee me parking.
My colleague and I were pleasantly surprised by our rooms - they were nice and clean and had terrific view of the runway! although were quite a hike from the lift!
Check in fast and efficent - business centre was excellent and very helpful when we had a few technical issues!
Only complaint was choice of food very limted, the concierge pointed us to a little italian restaurant 5 mins walk away - which was great - would def recommend it
I will certainly choose this hotel again
