When we arrived at the "hotel", we entered the lobby and there was a sign on the window of the reception saying "back in 5 minutes". So we waited. And waited. And waited. I eventually went back outside and rang the doorbell, several times, holding the button down for a long time. And I phoned about 6 or 7 times too. Eventually, a good half hour after we had arrived, a man came down the stairs, smiling. The place is tiny; there is no way he didn't hear us, but there was no apology. We were shown to our dirty little room, where there was supposed to be 3 beds, but 2 were pushed together so in effect it was a single and a double, and the shower room was absolutely filthy. The staff were unfriendly and indifferent. It was such a shame, because it was our first time in London, and we loved it, except for the horrible accommodation. I'll def be checking out Tripadvisor before I stay anywhere again!

Me and my family stayed one night at Chelsea House Hotel and got out as fast as we possibly could the next morning. Our room was small, dirty, it had a single naked light bulb in the ceiling and there was rat poison (no kidding!) behind the toilet in the bathroom, which you didn't want to use anyhow.

We were transferred to this hotel from Hotel Blue Bells Bed and Breakfast, which I cannot recommend either because of its extremely lousy service. Having booked in advance, we were told upon arrival (8 in the evening with a very tired 4 year old on our arm), that there was no room for us because of renovation (yeah right, deliberate overbooking is more likely), and that we would be transferred to 'a really nice room' at another hotel - with the same owners - in another part of town. - Chelsea House Hotel.

The point is: AVOID both Hotel Blue Bells and Chelsea House Hotel. The service is horrible, the standard is horrible and it is not at all what it looks like on the internet!

Depends much on the room you are assigned (so depends on the luck)

First of all, saying it is NOT a hotel. It would be more accurate saying it is either a hostel or a B&B.

We were not given the room we had reserved until the second night (the first night it was in use by other people). For that reason they discounted 5 pounds from our final price.

The house was old, so everything was old, (specially the first room which carpet was mouldy, the window did not avoid the cold coming in...). The second room was better, but still old.

If we had gone in winter, we would have been much colder.

Both rooms were small. Both had TV, but the first one without remote control and without buttons to change the channel.

Both rooms were noisy, as there is a road with much traffic next to the hostel.

Both toilets were clean, and I find it a very important thing.

The staff were neither fiendly nor rude. Just correct and no more. They asked you to leave the key each time you were going out and ask them back for it when coming in, as they had no copies of it.

The location was very good, 5 minutes far from a tube station which led us almost everywhere (Picadilly and District lines).

The continental breakfast was correct, with 2 slices of toasted bread, butter, jam, milk (or coffee or tea), juice and cereals.

I think if you come to this hostel, it will depend much on the room you are assigned if you have a nice stay or not.

Overall our stay was nice (specially because we used the hostel as a B&B).

Would I come back? I don't know, because it depends too much on the luck you have when you are assigned a room...

This was not a bb or hotel, it was more like where you would find tramps seeking refuse, in fact i have seen better and cleaner doorways.

When we walked in it smelt of wet dogs, and this carriered on thought the house, the room was ok smell wise, however there was damp in the walls, the carpet was rank, it made your sink crawl, the shower had mold everywhere and plaster falling off the wall, there was no tea making stuff, very dated, and i did have to laugh as the chair in the room was one of them plastic garden chairs from b & q haha

over all it did some of what it said on the tin, ie warm, dry, and a roof over your head,

I would like to say that although the hotel was not up to the mark, the area was fab, had a great night out, very nice people, shame I didnt get my leg over as when we got back to the room it didnt have the right ambiance.
