This hotel was a huge let down to my partner and me.

When we searched for the hotel on the net it was described as a contemporary boutique style hotel. Well it was none of these, it is in fact a mish mash of lots of things, as you walk in you are immediately in the bar and have to walk through to the reception then you are asked even when you have already paid in full for a deposit on your room which is not mentioned on any site! Then we went to our room and it was nicely presented on initial inspection, then you notice that the room is not contempary at all it is Old fashioned and out dated circa 1950 the furniture was chipped and old all the furniture looks like it was bought from a house clearance store!!!! The bedding was ripped, paint was peeling off the bathroom walls and the room was poorly lit, there were no bedside lamps so at night it was very dark in there one advantage though was the light from a street lamp outside. So we would certainly not stay here again and would tell anyone else who wishes to book this hotel that all is not what it seems in the brochures and on the websites.

Rather a mixed experience here. The location is good being close to Baker Street Tube and with a range of restaurants and pubs nearby (and a tesco next door). Long waits at reception both to check in and out. The bedroom was large and well furnished but with a jutting out step between the bed and the bathroom which was a major health and safety hazard. Despite having two TVs, neither worked which was irritating (I know if we had been particularly bothered we could have got it sorted). There was a plate of fruit which would have been a nice touch if some of it had not gone mouldy! It was also fairly noisy which might have been partly due to the uncovered wooden floors. It was not what I expect from a London Park Plaza but I would consider going back.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to celebrate my husband's 30th. We had an executive suite: a separate bedroom and lounge. Modern wood floors, bathroom and bedding complimented the historical sherlock holmes bits and pieces which gave it a real unique and homely feel! We dined at the restuarant on the first night. Again, it was a real modern affair. Dishes were unique (pigeon, lobster and avocado etc) and served in a contempary way-they tasted wonderful too! We would definately stay at this hotel again. Unique modern rooms with a historical twist, perfect location near Oxford Street and gorgeous food!

Our room was very quiet, no street noise what so ever. The staff was friendly and let us use the concierge PC for free to check in for our departure flight.

The location was pretty good as well. You can either walk towards Oxford street, Picadelly Circus ect. (but at some point when you walk towards Big Ben it gets a bit of a stretch), or you can use the Tube on Baker Street which is five minutes away.

We really liked the fact that the hotel was located right next to a small supermarket and also a Starbucks was only one minute away.

Great location - Oxford Street (10 mins) and West End (15) are easily walkable while Baker street tube is a couple of minutes away. We stayed in room 302 which was a superior double (note there is no normal double) room, long compact but nice.

Generally service was ok, manageress is outstanding though.

We ate in the restaurant and would reccomend it, nice food at reasonable cost. They played a mixture of low level 'dance and ambient' music which seemed a bit strange but not loud enough to be annoying or disrupt our conversation.

Downsides - Bathroom door was sliding glass type and had frustrating habit of sliding back once opened but not always !!! Asked for 6am wake up call which never materialised, we set both our mobiles but could have been a problem if we were relying on call.

Overall - Would we go back, definitely.
