I'll start with all the good points about this hotel. The hotel was modern, clean and had friendly, helpful check-in staff. My room was clean and had a large bed. The bathroom was clean and the shower was great. I only stayed one night and had a great nights sleep.

I booked this Travelodge in advance and therefore the price I paid was 19 GBP. When I booked I thought this was great value for money, however, there were some hidden costs that were added to this cost. There is no on site car parking so you need to park in the public car park that belongs to the shopping precinct. The cost to park overnight is 11 GBP. Normal check-in time is 1500 and if you want to check in earlier, there is a charge of 10 GBP. If you want breakfast, I believe it costs 7.50 GBP extra.

In total I paid 40 GBP for a one night stay, despite the initial cheap price I got it for around the same as a normal stay. I didn't have breakfast.

The hotel is very close to the main shopping areas and very close to the railway station so would be ideal for someone visiting Staines and needs somewhere cheap and convenient to stay. As I've already mentioned check what costs are applicable to you first.

Stayed here for 1 night for visiting Ascot and the West End, loved it, helpful staff, near to every amenity, short walk to train station (30 mins to waterloo direct) and the comfiest nights sleep for a long time, it was L29 and we were in it from 11.30pm until 9am, this is excellent for what you need, a bed and a shower. Ok it`s not the Ritz but we needed a bed for the night and it was great. Will definately stay here again, excellent base for visiting London and not paying London hotel prices.

I am amazed at some of the negative reviews here - an obvious case of expectations exceeding common sense and I don't agree. This is a Travelodge - I use them a lot and, of its type, this has a lot going for it. I stayed here for quite a few nights during May & June 2008 and found it perfectly adequate. The location is good - not much more than a mile away from anywhere in Staines and handy for both the trains into London (or out to Egham & Windsor) and close to Heathrow airport. There are a number places to eat to suit most tastes or a Waitrose open until 20:00 every night if you want to get stuff in. There is even a Vue cinema close by.

Where I have been most impressed however, is with the staff - unfailingly polite and helpful and always happy to assist with whatever I've asked - taxi, location of late night off licence, etc.

Compared to the little else avaialble this is a bargain and that is beofre you consider the online offers if you can get them.

I aproached the reception desk to check in and the Receptionist was too busy having a conversation on the telephone with a fellow native idian and made us feel unwelcome right away with his greeting of "YES" we told him the we were here to check in and the surname was O'Keeffe, we were asked to repeat ourselves 3 times and then asked if that was with an "O"...

We then paid the L107.00 for our two nights by card only to have it thrown back at us while been told " YOUR IN ROOM 118". That was it, never said what floor, when check out was, where and when breakfast was, no have a nice stay....

All i can say is, we all may be paying for somewhere to stay on a budget but i can assure you that i would never stay there again if it was for free, the attitude stinks!

Word of advice....( sack that receptionist )

We paid just L26 'Supersaver' to stay overnight before heading to Thorpe Park for a birthday treat. The room was excellent- clean, comfortable, quiet- we couldn't have hoped for more. Staff were friendly and helpful upon arrival and everything we could have needed was right on the doorstep. We arrived around 5.30pm, went to the cinema and for a meal, then back to the hotel room around 10.30pm for a silent night's sleep. We left around 9.00am the next morning and only paid L2.20 for parking (which wasn't more than 60 seconds walk from the hotel). We highly recommend this Travel Lodge for a short stop- which is just what they're designed for!
