Ok - just
We booked at the very last minute as we were in the east end of London after a very long and tiring day and felt too tired to drive back home. As a result, we paid £59 for a room - rack rate, no discount.
The room was shabby but clean. But - no shower curtain, no remote control for the TV, no telephone (we were told that they don't provide them and if we wanted a wakeup call they would come and knock on the door), only one coffee cup, only one bath towel despite it being a double room (apparently we should have gone back down to ask for more, but we were too tired, and we couldn't just phone down).
The bed was much softer than we would have preferred but we did sleep well.
We did let the receptionist know of the missing items and he dutifully noted them, and we got an apologetic phone call from the manager within hours which was appreciated. It also has to be said that both receptionists on the evening of the 23rd (female) and the morning of the 24th of July (male) were pleasant and as helpful as they could be.
Reading the other reviews of filth etc, we now feel we got off lightly - except for the price.
Dirty Filthy Hell Hole
If at all possible avoid this 'hotel'. Its what can only be described as a perfect example of Health and Safety violations set into practice. Rude Staff, Dirty Reception Area etc.
From the Smell of dirty cat litter in the room, the feaces on the wall.. YES THERE WAS POO ON THE WALL!! To the filthy bathroom. Soaking wet floor, used towels, mouldy shower curtain and stained toilet. The 'furniture' was similar to that I've seen in movies that depict crack dens was old, torn, unkept, smelly and dirty. This hotel was booked for us by a friend for convenience to an event. Needless to say we did not stay the night and found a lovely clean Ibis hotel in Barking. I will never stay in a Travel Lodge again and I have also advised my friends to avoid like the plague for fear of catching the plague!!
Quiet, clean and helpful staff.
My wife and I stayed at this Travelodge for one night whilst in London for a weekend. We were looking for somewhere quiet and clean with parking and thus this hotel was ideal. There is a multi-storey car park next door to the hotel with the 9th floor being for Travelodge guests; parking is free from 5 PM to 9 AM which is fine if you're going to be out all day. The lady at reception was helpful especially when our swipe card was initially not working. The double room was large and very clean. The only issue we had was the room was hot and humid at night and it was too noisy outside (traffic etc) to sleep with the window open. Overall, well recommended if you need somewhere with no frills, clean and relatively peaceful.
Passable, good value hotel
I was lucky enough to get one of the £19 deals, so I can't complain about value for money, but I think I would still have been satisfied if the price had been anything below £50.
I had a good-sized, clean room with a pleasant bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities. In the heart of Ilford (this hotel should not to be confused with the Ilford Gants Hill Travelodge), just a three minute walk from Ilford Station and many bus routes, this is not the prettiest of areas but it is very convenient for both transport links, shopping and a variety of pubs and cafes. If approaching from Clements Road, you have to take the lift up to the first floor reception. There are a couple of main roads nearby, but the double glazing seemed to do a good enough job in keeping out traffic noise.
Never Again, Thank You.
I am sorry to say that this was a terrible three days.
Nothing to add to the negative reviews already posted they are all very accurate.
I will not be returning and cannot recommend it under any circumstances.
Sorry, but this must rate as the worst Travelodge, of the many, I have stayed in throughout the UK.
