excellent for 1 night stop
the hotel is 5 mins in a taxi from he airport. It is very clean with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are big with comfortable beds and for the £30 for the night that we paid brillant value. There is a beefeater bar/restaurant just outside which is very convenient. The ony fault would have is that the nearest ATM maching is a 10-15 min walk away. Overall though i would recommend this as a place to stay if you're catc hing an early flight.
Good for a night before a flight
Stayed for 1 night before an early morning flight. Left the car in the car park for £5 per day and the hotel phoned for a taxi to take us to the terminal (£8). With the new drop procedures and problems the driver used a back way to the terminal so we didn't get stuck in the traffic, it was worth the cost for this alone.
Friendly staff at reception and usual standard room. Our only critisism was that it got very warm. The window would only open a few inches and although there was an extractor it was too noisy to leave on all night.
We eat at the restaurant next door and at £9.95 for 2 courses could not complain.
I probably wouldn't choose to stay here unless I was flying from the airport but for that it was fine.
Good value, no frills but comfortable Airport hotel
Family room clean, spacious. Travelled with three teenagers (18, 15, 14) Child bed on floor very hard judging by the loud 'Ouch' protest of my son. Double bed very comfortable. Bathroom clean with basic supplies, only shower gel. Room terribly overheated (hence my given 3 stars) with no possibility to regulate heating. Uncomfortable. Welcome complimentary tea/coffee. Surprisingly quiet in spite of proximity to airport.
Check-in: We arrived at midnight as the check-in clerk was busy checking-in another couple. After 10 minutes I finally asked the check-in clerk, who was still busy with the couple, if he'd mind giving the room keys to my kids (they were almost sleeping standing up.) He complied with a smile, immediately. The check-in clerk helpful, but painfully slow. He went through the form line by line. It felt like the first day of school. Two other couples arrived after us. I wondered if they got to bed at all:-) But the same clerk woke us at our requested time with a very friendly wake-up call. Could almost see his smile through the phone.
Location: Due to the bank holiday traffic was heavy at 5.30am and it took 10 minutes to the airport. Normally it wouldn't have taken more than 3-5 minutes. We requested a minicab from the check-in clerk. I'd phoned the minicab company earlier and had been quoted £10-12. When a black cab arrived I thought 'Oh no' as they're usually more expensive than minicabs. But the black cabs used by the hotel charge a standard £6 before 6 a.m. and £5 before 6 a.m. Very reasonable. On the minus side: I was disappointed that a money-belt bag we forgot (either in our room or in the taxi could not be found) even though we contacted the hotel as soon as we arrived home. However, for the rate ( £55 family room on booking.com), I'd use the hotel again. It suited our needs perfectly.
Great value and service
We have used this hotel many times and it sets the standard the others have to beat for budget hotels.
The rooms are spacious with air conditioning, flat screen TVs and very large and comfortable beds. The well insulated walls mean there is very little sound from other residents. The bathrooms are sparkling with shower and bath and always plenty of hot water.
Just a note of caution; try and get a room at the back away from the noise of smokers outside reception and of the restaurant opposite.
I'm British, why would they not let me stay unless I could show my passport.
Spent a week visiting relatives, staying in 4 different Premier inns. We don't normally stay in this one because it's too noisy with the aircraft noise from Luton Airport, but as we had an early morning flight, we chose this one. The receptionist demanded my passport yet when I said the other hotels hadn't asked for it she said that they were all in the wrong. She got a bit stroppy about it. Perhaps a career change might do her good. We are British and paid with a Barclays Connect card. After digging it out from the bottom of a suitcase, we were going to reorganise our bags for travelling the following day, we were allowed to check in. When we queried it with another staff member later in the day , she was quite surprised. However can I add, I stay in Premier inns many times a year and on the whole the staff are wonderful. Good restaurant on site, and not far from Luton Centre, and the airport is only about 5 minutes away, just don't expect too much sleep.
