Extremely basic, but at £25 a night how can anyone really complain ..
We stayed in this hotel, more of a motel the night before our early morning flight. The bar area was busy and reasonable, with tv on and lots of people eating/drinking and chatting. Our room was a bit dingy, but pretty clean and the sheets were crisp and fresh. The bathoom was not great, stained grout between the tiles and the floor didn't look clean. The bed was very soft, not great but it was quite comfortable when you get used to it. For the price it represents good value, but it is certainly an overnight bed with a roof over your head and nothing more.
Handy for the airport
We booked in here as we had to be at Gatwick for 4am for a 6am flight. It is conveniently located right at the end of the runway! Inspite of it's proximity to the runway, I didn't hear a single plane while I was in the building.
You do have to pay for parking on site but there is some street parking. There may be restrictions though, I only parked my car on the street for 15 mins while I checked in before leaving it at a friend's house who lives close by... saves on airport parking!
If you do need parking while you are on holiday then there are some really good deals at other hotels in the area so make sure you do your homework for the best one.
The bus to the airport was superfast at 3.30am! Bed comfortable but as always, Travelodge don't supply enough pillows. Room clean and tidy on arrival. Was fine for the 6 hours we were there and the 3 hours I slept before my early start.
Good for the money
Check in was fast, the room was basic - no shampoo, hairdryer etc, - but comfortable and clean. It is situated at the end of the runway, but not noisy. Bed was comfortable and linen clean. Plenty of hot water. The bar/cafe is reasonably priced and with a good selection. Taxi to the airport took 8 minutes and cost £9, bus costs £3 per person. For a short stay, really close to the airport would recommend.
You won't sleep a wink
Only stayed for one night so I'll keep this short. Booked a room as my flight came in a 3 in the morning and wanted to travel home after a nights sleep.
GOOD POINTS
The room is clean and to a good standard with everything you would need.
BAD POINTS
The walls are unbelievable thin. An alarm went off in the room next to us and it sounded like it was in our room. I barely slept as people were leaving and arriving throughout the night and with the extremely thin walls everything could be heard, from using the bathroom to switching on the lights.
Our room was by the door to the stairs and it banged every time it shut. Due to the thin walls every time someone took the stairs we would be woken up by the door banging.
From around 9ish in the morning the maids would start their shift and understandably be talking to each other. However again due to the thin walls it was impossible to sleep through this.
The hotel (excluding the rooms) was quite dirty with a lot of chewing gum stuck to the carpets.
Good for the Money
If you use sat nav (tom tom) it takes you up the wrong road look for the signs when you get realy near. £5 to park over night, Room was fine.
