Clean and Friendly
I stayed here 4 nights at the end of October. Lovely view from the 8th floor. I would stay here again, but there were a few 'issues' .
The cab driver from Heathrow could not find the hotel and it ended up costing 25 pounds from driving around and around. The hotel is not accessable directly from the street, you have to walk through a shopping area to get to it - although this was not too bad (unless you have a lot of luggage). There is a bus you can catch to the airport at the train station only a couple of blocks away. I was unsure of the times so I took the cab.
The room was a good size, the place was very clean (except the rug was a bit grungy) but all in all I thought it was a no-frills, clean and cheap hotel. The staff was friendly and there is someone at the desk 24 hours a day.
One other thing that bothered me was the access into the hotel. The room key card did not work on the outside door, and all anyone had to do was ring the buzzer and the door would open. Since the reception area was on the second floor (kind of odd), no one monitored who was coming into the hotel. I felt a bit uneasy after seeing some of the rough looking people hanging around the shopping area in the evening.
Cheap - i you can stand it
I have just returned from staying at this hotel, well it's a travelodge and was very cheap for london.
the hotel is located in the centre of feltham town centre, next to a large 24hr supermaket and various shop/ pubs. there are good bus and overground train links. tube is quite far.
The good:
the rooms were of a good size, nice shower, tv and tea making stuff, bed was quite comfy too
The bad:
one lift was broken. the other would disconcertingly drop a foot or two before etting stuck, then going down a level, then back up to our level.
the loo smelt a bit, seemed clean though
we stayed for 3 nights on the last night (a sunday) there was a great deal of noise, perhaps from nearby club until about 2am
our keycard never opened the front door despite the receptionist repeatedly asking us to try it again
our keycard stopped working after the second night.
overall, it was cheap, but i dont think i'd stay again - too many annoying problems, i'l try the etap thats opening soon in hounslow instead.
Nice location. Average hotel with specific issues.
Stayed at the Travelodge Feltham in late July and found it to be decent. It's an ideal location as it's located in the local High Street plaza where there is a 24 Hour supermarket (ultra convenient. and decent prices), clothing stores, banks, and various restaurants and eateries (I recommend eating at Nando's. It's grilled chicken - nice flavor, with a variety of sauces, as well as reasonably priced). McDonalds, Blockbuster, the Movie Theater are all walking distance. The train station is just around the corner which makes travel into central london every convenient.
Now, onto the hotel. The room is small, sparse, with no toiletries, no air conditioning, and an overpriced breakfast (didn't purchase it because of this). The room tends to cool up in the morning, but stays warm to hot for most of the day. Staff was very helpful with the check-in as well as setting up my late check-out. It's also a cheaper priced hotel, which is a plus. If you can overlook it's obvious deficiencies and concentrate on location and convenience, then this is a good place to stay.
Hot hot hot
This hotel is ok if you like the heat. It was hotter inside the hotel than it was outside. There is no air conditioning and the windows only open about 2 inches in the bedrooms. Breakfast is buffet style, and I have never had to queue up to get crockery and cutlery from the girl behind the bar as she washed it up there and then. Breakfast is ok if you like your food oin a microwave.
Excellent for Twickenham
We went for the Travelodge Feltham as we were attending the Bon Jovi concert at nearby Twickenham Stadium. We decided on staying away from London rather than London side of the venue and this proved an excellent move.
Having read the reviews about the Travelodge I was a little bit sceptical but these were proved unfounded. if you are coming from the Hounslow side, the turn for the hotel is almost immediately over the rail bridge. McDonalds is tucked back on the right so if the lights are green it is extremely easy to miss as I did.
The hotel does not have its own car park but arrive after 6pm and the hotel will give you a voucher to reduce the L10 fee to L5 in the nextdoor NCP. We arrived before this so had to pay full price but it was not a big problem an meant we got to the concert at the time we wanted.
The rooms themselves are small, we had a double and only a shower but it was perfectly adequate for what we wanted.
Other reviews talk about the lack of air conditioning. This is common in Travelodge but a tip is to shut the very good blackout curtains and open the windows as far as they will and by doing this we found the room very comfortable when we ruturned from our night out. Bed was good and facilities in general very acceptable.
Staff were helpful and as we needed to get away early Sunday morning we booked the hotel breakfast (10% discount if booked on line) Food was plentiful and reasonable quality apart from the scrambled egg which was either reconstituted or poorly made! My one complaint was that the tables on this area could do with a good scrub as they were somewhat tacky.
If you are attending an event at Twickenham, Feltham is an excellent choice. The station is just across a walkway from the hotel and the fare is L2.90 return to Twickenham Station (June 08). South West Trains lay on extra trains for events so coming back there was a train every 6 minutes.
Organisation at the Twickenham end was also excellent meaning everyone was clear what to do and there was little delay. The concert finished at 10.30pm and we were back in Feltham by 11pm.
