Description

The residence is located in Covent Garden, one of the liveliest areas of central London. Now one of London's most popular tourist attractions, for much of its existence Covent Garden served as the largest fruit and vegetable market in England.
Covent Garden began life as a 40 acre walled garden belonging to the monks of Westminster Abbey. Following the dissolution of the monasteries in 1537 the land passed into private hands. Then, in 1631, celebrated architect Indigo Jones developed it into a residential area for for the gentry. Fruit and vegetable trading began there around 1649 and expanded rapidly afterwards.
The Market used to cover the whole of the square and occupied many of the buildings, but has since been transformed beyond all recognition. It now harbours a plethora of bars, restaurants and trendy shops as well as the Royal Opera House and many street artists.
Grosvenor House lies at the heart of Covent Garden in a converted Victorian building. Its 169 studios and flats have private toilet and shower facilities and kitchenettes. The residence has heating, laundry and bicycle facilities, TV, telephones and CCTV. All rooms are non-smoking.
