The hotel is the only one in the area, so you'd think that they would make good use of their monoply. The place is a dump, apppears essentially closed (there was no one staying there at the time I arrived), and the folks are disagreeable. Forget this place. It is not really even a hotel anymore.

I went to the St. Paul's hostel for 15 pounds a nite, and it was great. Yeah, I had to take the 76 bus back and forth to Stokey, but for the savings $64 for a dump or $24 for the hostel, it was great. Truth is, I wouldn't stay in this place if it were free.

This is a "you pay for what you get" hotel. Cheap with no frills whatsoever. It's run by a family who's also got a drycleaning business at the same address. They are very friendly and perhaps becuase of their second business, this hotel is very clean! Rooms are very basic and most of them face the high street, meaning they are quite noisy at night.

I got a slightly "seedy" feeling from the bedrooms as we found an adult magazine in our bedside table - but with our sense of humour it actually made the stay better rather than worse! We managed to negotiate the price slighly as we were a group of 6 people staying, but later found out that this meant we lost our breakfast (which were supposed to be included). But as we gave them quite a lot of hassle when making our rervation, constantly changing our minds, and arrived very late at night causing quite a stir we oversaw this with no complaints.

As this is the only hotel in this particular area I think they have a little monopoloy of the standard/prices. But then again, pricewise, becuase they are so small they can't compete with the larger budget chains, such as Holiday Inn.

Overall: A good clean budget choice if staying in the area is more important than the standard of your hotel.
