Good location for tube station, but the fare was £12.60 return each day to London. Fridge in room was handy, ceiling fans urgently required. We arrived 2 1/2 hours after check in time, but room was not ready, unmade beds & dirty towels from previous occupants & no toilet paper. Shown to breakfast room to wait, but no offer of a cuppa after our long journey.

Acton Town Hotel has it's advantages. It is very close to the Acton Town tube station and inexpensive for a London B&B. However, when we arrived at the hotel, we found that it was not as clean and friendly as it's website promised.

In the reception room we spoke to an unfriendly woman who had earlier assured us on the phone that we would only need our credit card details to pay for the room. We had called ahead from our hometown to ask if we could pay with the card details only and this was said to be possible. When we arrived the woman insisted that we could not do this and was not apologetic at all for the mix up.

When we had paid her in cash out of our limited spending money, we were shown up two flights of stairs to our room.

To say the least, we were shocked at the condition of the double room. The carpet looked as if it had not been hoovered, the lampshade was stained and dusty, the en-suite bathroom was smelly with stains on the toilet seat, a grimy shower cubicle and had spatters on the mirror.

We reported this to the manager, who was friendly at first but as we told him about the problems with the room, he became unfriendly and disinterested to the point of not giving eye-contact. He refused to refund us for that night but said that we could stay and find somewhere else the next day. We declined his offer.

Overall, we were very dissatisfied with Acton Town Hotel and I personally would not recommend it.

We booked a double room with ensuite bathroom for 2 nights. When we were there to check in at 11.00 am. (it's the check in time for this hotel), the landlord - a polite pakistan man -said our room would be ready in 2-3 hours. So, we left the luggages there and went to the City. When we went back at 4 pm, the manager asked a staff to lead us to the room. It's about 0.2 mile away from the hotel that we had to walk and carry our luggages by ourselves. When we reached the building, the staff asked us to wait while he went up to make the room. It's a very small room, unfinished refurbishment, with a queen size yielding mattress. When we asked for the bathroom, he said it was downstair!

We protested and the landlord came to talk to us and offer a 10 pound discount. We denied, so he led us back to the first building and put us to a 5 beds room that night, and a double room (as we booked) for the other night. Those rooms are in a building behind the first builing. - So, you can see that it is a 3 buildings hotel!

Anyway, the rooms we stayed were okay with good beds, clean sheets, and very good showers. The bad parts were that the 5 beds room's back door opened to a breakfast room and kitchen and the windows opened to a store room, while a toilet flush in the double room needed to be repaired.

The location is great, less than 50 steps from the tube station and a coffee shop nearby serves nice sets of english breakfast.

It is pretty inexpensive for London, but that's because you are a 25 minute Tube ride from Central London. It's on a fairly busy road. There isn't much near the hotel, a cafe and a kebab place. The rooms were simple, and mostly clean. TV, small fridge, tea, coffee, and bathroom. Nothing fancy, but works if you just want a room and don't mind taking the Underground into town every day with the commuters. The breakfast included was pretty good, with good service. For 10 bucks more, I probably could have found something closer to downtown.
