Good location, but worn-out hotel that needs renovation!
Originally, I was supposed to spend 2 nights in this hotel, but fortunately read the reviews and changed my mind. I booked through laterooms.com and the hotel wouldn't accept a cancellation without charging me for the first night. Therefore, I decided to stay that night and then move to another hotel.
I got a room on the top floor (no 17). There's no lift so I had to carry my heavy luggage up the narrow staircases to the top. The room was clean and OK with twin beds and a small bathroom. However, there were a lot of stains on the carpets, both in the staircases and in the room, and also on the bedspread. The linen was clean and so was my bathroom!
I had both hot and cold water in my shower, and it was working without any problems. The sink was placed very low on the wall, so for a tall person, that might be a problem. I heard from other guests that they didn't have hot water and that the rooms were very hot, and they couldn't open the windows. I opened the window in my room and had a pleasant temperature all through the night.
The staff was friendly and the breakfast was adequate if you like toast, butter and jam + cornflakes. Their breakfast room was small and crowded, and they didn't have enough kitchen staff in the morning, so we had to wait for them to clean the tables and serve the tea and toast (this was not a problem at all).
The location was good, very close to Paddington underground station.
All in all, a shabby hotel that really needs renovation. The carpets and furnishings need replacement. I believe that the place would be OK with light, bright colours, new art on the walls (remove all that Egyptian rubbish and wall paintings) and replace the carpets and bedspreads.
The hotel is OK for single travellers, young couples or budget travellers that are in London to explore and not spend time in the hotel. I wouldn't recommend it as a family or business hotel.
The worst hotel I have seen in my life...
This is by FAR the worst hotel I have been in my life.. I stayed there for 5 days, with my girlfriend...
Day one: we arrived at the hotel. Bed mattress was broken! No hinges, my girlfriend actualy FELL of the bed at night. The carpet looked like someone had through-up on it. Woke up in the morning and discovered that the bathroom had NO WATER at all... Demended that we change room..
Day two: OUr second room, which was around 4-5 square metres, HAD NO HOT WATER AT ALL... Chnaged room again...
Day three: No COLD WATER in our third room...Only boiling... Could not have a shower for a third day in row... The manager was OFF, and the guy who was left behind couldn't even speak english...
Day four: our Fourth room... What can I say... Lets start by saying that it was in the basement of the hotel.. THE BASEMENT.. In the two days that we styaed there, we got bitten by bed bugs.. We both suffered axtreme allergic reactions to the bites, that covered our whole bodies...
We left England, and as soon as we landed in our country, we went straight to the hospital... We got treatment to "severe alergic reactions" to bed bugs bites whose size and kind the local doctors had never encoutered before...
Just to clarify it, the reason we did not leave this "hotel" was that we had pre-paid through an online booking company, and the hotel "manager" refused to give us our money back... (we had no more cash to go to another hotel...)
To anyone thinking of staying to Mina Hotel... I have traveled to South America, Africa, Europe... This place is by far the worst place I have seen . It can not even be called a hotel... Its a shame that it is still in operation...

This place is still in business?
To sum it up, this place was AWFUL. The rooms were filthy, the bathroom...well lets just say I would have rather hosed myself off outside and felt cleaner. One man who worked there would make us pay our phone bill every time we left if we made any calls. Then my mom called and spoke to the front desk and was told nobody by my name was staying at the hotel, I booked the room under my name! Needless to say my mom had a heart attack. I needed an iron and the one I got looked like what was used in Medieval times. Oh, and the radiator busted and was seeping out blazing hot air so we had to open the "terrace" doors in February. So we freezed and burned our rears off. The only good thing about this stay was that it still gives my friend and I a great laugh when we think about it.
left as soon as possible
filthy windows and curtains , stained carpets , tiny room in the attick , holes in the bathroom .... and I was afraid of insects coming in . Unfortunately , due to late arrival and a London show already booked I had to stay one night . The next morning I packed and left not even daring to brave breakfast in a basement room,
