Hilton London Stansted Airport

I don't think the name Hilton has guaranteed good quality for a while now but maybe some people still think it does. Don't be fooled, this hotel is about the standard of a lower end Travelodge.

Ok, the room has a flat screen TV, but that is the only concession to modern times. The bed was uncomfortable, the bath was browning around the edges, the carpet was worn.

The bar and restaurant are quite nice but prohibitively expensive.

The shuttle service is handy but costs L2 which is a rip-off.

The ONLY reason to stay here is if you have an early flight and need to use the parking facilities. The room suddenly becomes quite good value if you book the inclusive 8-day parking package.

As long as Ryanair fly cheaply at 6am, this hotel will be busy. If your flight is later than 11am, I say get your parking elsewhere and drive up in the morning.

Stayed at the Hilton Stansted for 2 nights on business. First impressions were quite good. That was however until I got to my room, a double room on 3rd floor to rear of hotel.

The room contained two of the narrowest beds I have ever slept in. the room was in dire need of refurbishment and I do not feel justified by the price. The hotel may claim to have triple glazed windows to keep out the noise of the neighboring Stansted airport well I can tell you now it DOESNT!

The business facilities were not bad. The Ashdon room contained very little/if any natural light and was extremely noisy as was the whole hotel. This is due to the airplanes of Stansted. The gents toilets were in desperate need of a proper clean. Again could do with some modernisation in general.

The food was lovely, very nice, we had duck, turkey, salmon, snapper, chicken and veg, potatoes, rice etc to choose from along with salads, fruits, cold meats, and lots of choices of deserts. Breakfast too was very nice with lots of choice and plenty of freshly cooked food for the taking.

I found the hotel charges you for everything, L15 for 24hrs internet which is a joke. L2 for the bus to airport, Parking is extortionate. The food and drink prices are quite high also.

The main positive note from this hotel was I found every single staff member within this hotel to be of the utmost professional and friendly nature. They are a credit to this hotel, they really are. I have been to many hotels in my time and found that the staff here were among the nicest in general I have come across.

I stayed at the Hilton Stansted for one night last January.

First of all..when you think of the word "Hilton"..this is not a traditional Hilton hotel. The quality just isn't there..

What does one want from an airport hotel?

Good transportation..shuttle in every 15 mins or something.

Comfortable and clean room.

And a good breakfast. That is all thank you.

Now how did Hilton Stansted do ?

Shuttle..30 minutes wait in cold weather, well it wasn't fun.

And it's not free.. the shuttle. Not good.

Rooms? This is not Hilton standard, this was more like a motel. Especially the bathroom, it was clean which is the most important thing.. but in every other way.. Very very basic. The smell of mold was the first thing that greeted you when you opened the door to the bathroom. Not good.

Breakfast? Excellent. Pricey yes.. but excellent real english breakfast. What a nice surprise after the night in not so great hotel room.

Generally speaking this is a hotel in desperate need of renovation and with this I mean the corridors and the rooms. Reception area and the lobby was ok.

But if you need a place to stay at Stansted this is an ok choice. Just don't expect to find a real "Hilton" hotel for that this place is not.
