For the price, this hostel is in a decent location. It's 10 minutes from Victoria train and Tube stations, plus the main coach station. Straight down Belgrave road, it's also not hard to locate.

As the hostel goes, it's your standard hostel. Rooms are on the small side and very basic but clean enough. The main downside to the hostel building is the stairs; as well as being narrow, there are a lot of them and no other option but to climb them! With luggage, that's quite the feat, especially if you're on one of the top floors.

Breakfast offered and is fair enough for the price; free! No complaints there.

For what little interaction we had with them, the staff were friendly enough.

I would return to this hostel if I needed to.

I wish I had done a bit more research for a hostel in London. This had a decent location and price so we booked here. We arrived late at night and found that we were on the very top floor (6th floor) with no elevator. I understand that this is a hostel, not a hotel, so I was still willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. We got to the room and found it to be really small. So small, that we we had to file in so that everyone could get in with their luggage. There wasn't anywhere to stand or sit while in the room. There was a small sink in the room which was nice. The showers were also quite small and the floor for the small changing area was nothing but a pool of water so everything you bring in there gets wet. One of the two showers that were available was cold water only. There is a kitchen but I didn't see it so that may be nice. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone. There has to be better hostels out there for a decent price.

I took a group of 9 young adults to London and Slovakia in August of 2009. We stayed 4 nights at the Astor Victoria. I was afraid because of the poor tripadvisor reviews.. but was pleasantly surprised.

The first two nights we stayed high up many flights of stairs in a very out-dated room, but eventually ended up in a much nicer one. Be sure and ask for an upgrade if you don't like your room. Bathrooms were clean and shower was adequate. The staff was friendly and always very helpful to us.

We enjoyed the internet cafe and cheap phone cards you could buy at the front desk. It also included 40 minutes of free internet usage... this was great. Breakfast was basic, but hey it was free! I would bring my own cultery and a plate next time though.

The best part of this place was the price (18pound a night) and location (short walk from gatwick express victoria station). We wil be back.

I stayed in a 6 person room and was booked for 6 nights but cancelled after 2. The room was small, hot and stuffy, the door was very difficult to close properly, and a fire alarm would go off every morning waking everyone up. The bed was very uncomfortable, the sheets were stained, the shower in the room was full of hair, and despite being supposedly "en-suite" there was no toilet in the room. There were however toilets on each floor (which were so small you could barely turn around in them and on my floor one of the toilets had no working lightbulb) as well as showers (which were spacious but quite disgusting). There was also a computer room/lounge which was pretty small and it cost 1 pound/40 minutes of internet usage. Although this hostel looks promising on its website and is at a pretty good location, I had a pretty bad time there and would never stay there again.

a dump of a hostel.

Had a 5 day reservation, and got in late, so stayed one night, ( barely 7 hours there) before packing up, cancelling the rest of the reservation. Noisy, smelly, run down place with incompetent staff, no working lights in the washrooms, and the staff seemed apathetic to traveller's needs. Horrible experience, you can find better, for the same or a couple more bucks, in better areas of the city. Skip this one unless you're desperate for a place to stay.
