Spotlessly clean and the best beds in the entire world

So far, I've stayed three times in the Parkcity hotel (twice in 2008 and once in 2009).

It was, consistently, one of the cleanest hotels I've ever been to, with a helpful, professional staff, and most importantly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. I was travelling with colleagues during the two trips in 2008, and they both also commented on just how superb the beds are.

Some remarks, also regarding other reviews around here:

1) don't bother with the breakfast buffet; get breakfast through room service. I always get some kind of coffee and the breakfast option where you get this huge assortment of toast, bread rolls, pastries, marmelades, jams and honey, all for less than 10 pounds, delivered to your room. you get this order card that you hang outside your door until 3am or so. it's delicious and incredibly good value.

2) the hair dryers are to be found, for reasons I don't quite understand, in a drawer in the room (underneath the TV), not in the bathroom

3) it's an old building, in England, and thus it's no surprise the AC dies sometimes - it happened to a colleague on one of the 2008 trips I think, but since the adjacent street is super quiet, you can just open the windows. Other than tearing down the entire premise, I suppose they can't do much about it

4) Internet access is indeed not free, but that's something that annoys me about pretty much every single hotel in Europe

5) it's sometimes very hot in the corridors, which I think is due to the (otherwise nice) lighting in there which heats up the narrow and low corridors quite quickly

6) they have excellent Bose WAVE radios in the rooms; I only wish those had iPod connectors - that would be perfect

I haven't tried their restaurant or bar. Earl's Court and Gloucester Road tube stations are a ~10 minute walk each. Credit card is charged with 50 pound per day (I think) security deposit that is transferred back after checkout. Bathrooms have very nice Molton Brown toiletries. Leave your business card in the glass bowl at the reception, they have a monthly raffle for a free stay or something. As far as I remember, there is no minibar in the rooms, but I think there is a fridge that was supposed to be used for the minibar, so you can just buy whatever you need from the (huge) Sainsbury around the corner.

Stayed in the hotel for 4 nights during WTM. Hotel sales and reservations department very friendly and ready to help. All the rooms have been booked directly. They kept the bags on first and last day of stay in a safe storage area.

Rooms quiet and well furbished and very clean. The standard room is maybe a bit too small for two people inside, but the hotel offers few larger standard rooms. The only small discomfort noticed during the 4 nights, was the small difference in height of the two single mattresses, as one of them was probably new. Excellent location of hotel in a quiet street. Gloucester road and Earls court tube station very close.

Hotel should improve the breakfast and include the full english breakfast in the buffet as well, because after few days, the continental breakfast doesn't offer variety in food selection.

Internet access rates a bit too high, so this should be also taken into consideration just

because there are lot of bars nearby that offer free wifi.

Recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights after arriving from Australia. We stayed on the top floor and had a view onto the street. We travelled with a 5yo and found the hotel very quiet and with the larger room (superior?) we were able to have her sleeping in a fold out. There was a Sainsbury very close and the Tesco a little down the main road. 2 minor complaints are that the room was hot, we had to open the windows all night and still felt hot (we were on the top floor) and that they took a 100 pound bond and kept the hold on my card for about 3 weeks.

All up our experience in the hotel was fine and the hotel was nice. Recommend to anyone trying to get over jetlag.

Rooms clean and of good size for London. Bathrooms also clean and not too small. Staff correct. Breakfast a waste of time - very expensive and very average - go to one of the many cafes along Gloucester Road. Ridiculous having to pay for internet access, when the hotel is not cheap. Tried going to the bar one evening: very "Faulty Towers" as has been mentioned here. No staff, 4 guests helping themselves from behind bar, including one poor man who only needed ice for an injured knee. After going twice to reception, they explained that there was to be a party later on that evening and the bar man had gone shopping! I certainly heard the party that night (window opened due to lack of aircon as previously mentioned in other reviews) and actually thought of going to join it - I may then have had my cocktail!

I am about to book the Parkcity again but the reviews seem to be getting worse!

We first stayed last December 08 and found it excellent then we stayed in March 09 and noticed a fall in standards. Allthough we paid for Deluxe the room was smaller, the mini bar was empty, we had to ask for slippers and robes and another chair as there were 2 of us. (All arrived immediately) Concierge seemed to have been laid off, reception not quiet so welcoming. Robe hook missing in bathroom. Little things but the place still gleamed like new , bed still great, all staff friendly.

However recent reviews are really getting worrying.

Would the management like to comment?

Please keep your reviews coming in if you have stayed in the last few weeks. The top places on T/A now seem to be twice the price of the Parkcity and a bit steep for our budget.
