About Best Western - The Delmere Hotel
You'll feel right at home as soon as you pass through the splendid colonnade entrance of the Best Western The Delmere Hotel, a fine stucco town house hotel, originally designed by Victorian architect Samuel Pepys Cockrell. Close to Hyde Park, Sussex Gardens is a delightful tree-lined avenue built to provide spacious homes for affluent Victorians.
Inside the Best Western The Delmere Hotel you'll find the hospitality warm and friendly, the surroundings traditional and intimate. A real home from home, that thoroughly deserves its prestigious Certificate of Distinction from the British Tourist Authority. The Best Western The Delmere Hotel is the smallest Best Western property in London, with just 36 rooms. Officially a 2 star hotel, we however offer you all the services and facilities of a larger 3 star property.
Proudly, the hotel holds the highest grading of any AA listed 2 star hotel in London. It won the Silver Award in 2003, 2004 and 2005 of the English Tourist Authority for excellence in service. Furthermore The Delmere was the winner of Best Western's national inspection scheme in 2003 and 2004.
All rooms are ensuite and have tea and coffee making facilities, satellite colour television, direct dial telephone, data port, a safe, hairdryer and electronic locks for extra guest security.
Our reception is open 24 hours and foreign languages are spoken. We also have a cosy Jazz bar where guests have a rich choice of whiskeys, Belgium beers and liquors. The comfortable lounge with its small library is just the place to relax or to read one of the complimentary daily newspapers or magazines.
Our Fench/Italian styled restaurant, La Perla, serves good quality fresh food, where there is a full a la carte menu and a fixed price 3-course menu. Our extensive wine list complements this.

Terrible experience at Delmere Hotel
I will never stay at the Delmere Hotel again!!
I was treated in the most disrespectful way when there was confusion about my booking which was off by one day. The Manager insisted on charging me for the mistaken day despite my having booked three nights stay. Most would have accomodated the mistake (regardless of whose fault) given the the multiple night booking, but not at the Delmere. They insisted on charging me and were so rude I left and booked into the Hilton Paddington. I WILL NEVER BE BACK! Too many better hotels in the area!!
Great location, very nice hotel
We stayed in this hotel for three nights. The location is great, very close to Paddington station which made it easy to go back to drop things / pick things up during the day. There are also a lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood, so you have a lot of choice. The room was very nice and clean. The breakfast was good, a nice buffet with the option of ordering full english breakfast. The full english was made to order and very nice. We will stay here again next time!
No heat in late September - early October
No heat of any kind in the hotel (and no air conditioning other than very small portable room fan). Sept. had a cold spell plus maid left the windows open all day, so when I returned late evening, felt like I was sleeping outside - this happened several times. Put on four layers of shirts and had two blankets, but still cold. This went on for most of my 19 day stay during Sept.-Oct. 2009. Brick-concrete 100 yr old Victorian bldg has no insulation. I have stayed here several times in the past and found it extremely convenient to Heathrow Express about a ten minute walk, trains to Oxford and north of London, two tube stations nearby, 30 minute walk to concerts at Royal Albert Hall, 20 minute walk to Kensington Palace, grocery stores in Paddington Train Station for snacks ten minute walk, so no spend money on taxis. Always clean room, but very small. Only five hangers for my long stay with good clothes, but staff could not locate even one extra hanger for me when I asked more than once. Hair dryer was taped to work. Hassle to use the room safe. New flat screen TV was nice. Only one hotel computer and was out of order at least three times when I really depended on it, so I missed a very important meeting. Continental breakfast OK, but it never changes if you stay several days. Breakfast room always clean. Remodeled some curtains in hotel. Quiet back rooms, but front rooms have some traffic noise 7am- 10pm. Current staff friendly and professionally trained. Problem in general is London hotels are notoriously small and too expensive with unpredictable quality and just cannot give the value compared with ANY hotel in the United States. I do not think any American would be statisfied with any London hotel. I have stayed in about a dozen London hotels. I hope this one would have been adequate given its good location to the trian station, but now I am not sure. Lift but several rooms are inaccessible via lift.
Great location; but tiny, stuffy rooms
PLUS - This hotel is in a really great location - 2 min walk from Paddington Station and lots of bars, restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Only 10 min walk to Hyde Park too. Continental breakfast is good and the staff were friendly. Free internet also.
NEGATIVES - our room was on the third floor and it was soooooooo hot and stuffy that it actually ruined our stay! The temperature was 20 degrees and we were dying at night, so I dread to think how warm the rooms on this floor would get in the summer months.
Great location, wonderful staff
We stayed in room 307 for 5 nights. The room was very small, typical of London, but very clean. Very clean small bathroom. Shower only. Our room overlooked the alley, so it was quiet. Nice soap and shampoo in the bathroom. Remember to pack a face cloth, they aren't supplied. The young staff that work in the hotel are excellent both at the front desk and at breakfast. The continental breakfast was complimentary with our room. Perfect for us, bread, rolls, croissant, cheese, ham, cereal, juices, yogurt, coffee & tea. We ate there every morning. The location is great, an easy walk from Paddington Station, and all it has to offer. Lots of restaurants nearby. Easy walk to Hyde Park, Kenningston Gardens & Palace. The little bar in the hotel is a nice touch as was the free internet in the basement level den.
