Lovely hotel
we stayed here overnight as we was meeting family. hotel was lovely, check-in/out was very smooth. room was very comfortable with plenty of room. we looked out onto the pond and could also see the planes taking off but we had no outside noise at all.
yes the hotel isn't the cheapest around but it was worth what we paid for the room. we dined in the zen restaurant and the food, service, everything was excellent. the staff served some of your food to you and then left you to help yourself. there was 4 of us dining and we each had two courses and two drinks each and the bill was just over L200, approx L50 per head which for where we were wasn't too bad.(including drinks.)
the drinks in the bar was however very pricey, 1 round for 4 people came to over L32 so be prepared. also the price of drinks in the mini bar was also expensive, a small bottle of water is L4.50, needless to say we didn't touch anything from the mini bar.
would we stay at this hotel again...yes we would even though the prices in some areas were a bit steep, but we would definately eat at zen restaurant again.
although our stay wasn't to gain access to the airport for anyone staying for that reason, there is a walkway to terminal 4 or a private taxi will take you to any of the terminals for about L15.
also they have a private shuttle bus to terminal 5 from right outside the main doors leaving every half hour.
Excellent hotel in everyway (but the price!)
Pleasantly surprised by this hotel, the reception staff were friendly, the room clean and comfortable, no outside noise whatsoever, 5 min walk to Terminal 4 by a covered walkway, swimming pool and gym, excellent all you can eat buffet meal at the restaurant (with good service). Was a great way to way to start our holiday and would definately stay here again and although it is very expensive mid-week, its probably worth it.
Location, location ,location...
This is a big, but 'plastic' although good hotel. The location for terminal 4 is very good (although a rather longer walk than I expected, especially with cases). Not where I would choose to stay for a romantic weekend break, but as I was flying our from terminal 4 the next day, perfect. It does, as they say, what it says on the tin.
My room was large, well furnished and very comfortable. Bathroom great! The hotel food was more than acceptable and the bar area perfectly fine. However the food and drink were very expensive - even by airport hotel standards. The hotel is new and exceptionally clean. Huge and (but) a bit impersonal.
Check in and check out were very simple and relaxed. Fast lifts to the rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
If you are flying out of terminal 4 this is a good (and closest) choice. I hope you get a cheaper deal than I mananged! The prices seem to vary very much from day to day. Not a great experience, but if you are flying out from terminal 4 this is the hotel for you.
Convenient and comfortable stay for Terminals 4 and 5- but expensive
We decided to stay at the Hilton to be close to the airport, connected to Terminal 4. When we found out we were actually leaving from Terminal 5, it still worked out due to the free shuttle bus leaving every 30 minutes to Terminal 5. We utilized the Heathrow Express to get to and from central London, and from Terminal 4 there is a covered walkway that takes about "6 minutes" to get to the hotel lobby. The hotel lobby is impressive and has a few bars/restaurants. We ate at Oscar's which was overpriced with fairly slow service and average food.
Our room was a nice size and clean, but nothing extraordinary for the price we paid. The bathroom was a bit dated, but a good size. There is a small flat screened TV with a good selection of channels. Overall the hotel is quiet and comfortable, but there are cheaper options around.
Average service for an above average price
Stayed here as part of a business conference and paid the 24 hour conference rate. Unusually the price that already looked high was greater still on check out as VAT was added (so suggest you check this when comparing prices).
On the plus side the hotel is easy to find, my room was quite spacious and the large atrium provides a feeling of space. There's a good choice of items at the breakfast buffet. Black out curtains are a good feature in the bedrooms along with a radio enabling guests to select their favourite stations.
Bearing in mind the price charged, there are too many service failings. It took me about fifteen minutes to obtain a cup of tea with my breakfast and I had to ask three different members of staff. By contrast at our buffet lunch there were almost too many staff rushing over to snatch away your plate as soon as you put your fork down. In the bar - where the drinks are hardly cheap - we were informed that the hotel had no nuts or crisps available. After quite a lot of incredulity from our group, some were eventually produced. At our conference dinner, all the meat dishes were served to every table before any vegetarian option was brought out (despite advanced ordering).
The air conditioning unit in my room was very noisy so it had to be switched off to permit sleep. It wasn't possible to open the window even though I had one of the rooms that overlooked the car park rather than into the atrium.
