We enjoyed our stay at Aster House very much. The location is super convenient--close to the South Kensington underground-- and the staff friendly but not at all overbearing. There are plenty of good restaurants on the block and around the area for very good food. Our room was clean, spacious, and nice. I suspect our only complaint would be price but most everything is expensive in London so the price was reasonable, all things considered. We highly recommend it.

within walking distance. The Tans were very gracious and helpful. We stayed in the Garden Room, which was very comfortable and spacious. We had a small patio that looked out on the garden, which was lovely. The breakfast room was enclosed in glass. The food was plentiful and very tasty. the other guests were both friendly and full of helpful hints about London and the Cotswolds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will come back some day.

We found this hotel in our Rick Steves' guide, and we're so glad we stayed here for 5 nights! We'd have stayed 2 nights more if there had been room! Leonie Tan is a warm, friendly host who made us feel right at home. We had 2 rooms, side by side, both very clean with comfortable beds & modern bathrooms. Breakfast in the Orangerie (sunroom) was a treat, and delicious! The South Kensington neighborhood is charming and quiet, and the tube station was a very short walk away. Aster House has won several B&B of the Year awards, and I can see why! Our children, ages 12 & 14, loved staying here--this was our first trip to Europe as a family. We would definitely stay here again.

Finding a place to stay in London is by no means easy if you're unfamiliar with the city...So, knowing we'd rather stay in a cosy guest house than a large standard depersonnalised hotel, we started looking on tripadvisor, and boy, the reviews were absolutely right!

First of all, Aster House is ideally located in South Kensington and very easy to find from the underground station. It is also very close to the Albert Museum, Science museum, Natural history museum, and many points of interest, including Hyde Park

The rooms are standard size for Europe, but very clean and tidy

Breakfast is excellent, tasty and abundant

The owners are thoughtful and willing to walk the extra mile for their guests

Aster House is not cheap, but cheaper than many luxury hotels while offering great amenities, and a quiet and luxurious environnement. We'll definitely be back

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Aster House (BTW, how do people make reservations, stay here, pay their bill and yet call it "Astor" House, Aster "Hotel", Aster "Hostel" etc?)

We were swayed by Rick Steves' report and by its excellent location. Being poor worker-bees, we had to stretch our budget to stay here, but we're glad we did.

The location is GREAT! Literally a couple minutes by foot to the South Ken tube (past the LAMBORGHINI dealership). A few more minutes north to the V&A, Science and Natural History Museums. On a pleasant day you can continue strolling right through Hyde Park to Oxford St. and do some serious damage to your credit card balance.

Our room was small but adequate. Adequate also describes the bath. Although I didn't take any measurements, I would guess that a red phone box might give the shower a run for its money, spacewise. Regardless, we managed to stay clean.

The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Even though our room faced the street, noise was never a problem.

The A/C worked great, too well for my wife, who was feeling a little chill on the warmest day so far this year.

The real star in the Aster House crown is the Orangery, the 1st floor greenhouse where breakfast is served and where you can go to stretch out and relax if your room feels too close.

The breakfast was first rate with a variety of choices, no shortage of replenishment and, on the consistently sunny days we had while there, an unbeatable ambiance.

I just wish I could afford to stay there more often.
