Low price, very good location - ideal for backpackers and low-cost travellers
If you are travelling at a low budget and only want to spend a couple of nights in privacy without expecting anything extra, the Golden Star Hotel is just for you.
The room we entered was tiny and disorganised but still the bed-clothes and towels looked clean. The bathroom (i.e. a toilet + a shower bath, the basin was in the bedroom) was a little bit smelly but still quite okay for use. The hot water took a couple of minutes to start running but then the temperature was stable.
The breakfast was good. It consisted of 4 toasts, 2 eggs, some butter + marmelade and a tea with milk. Quite enough for two people.
The staff was kind and helpful.
The room could not be locked, only closed, but we did not have any problems with security (we had the most valuable things with us through the day anyway).
We (= me + my girlfriend) spent there 4 nights (£20 p.n.p.p., booked via https://www.londonnethotels.co.uk/ ) and would return there. The biggest plus is its position and low price. We would not recommend it to people used to higher standard of living. It is ideal for backpackers and low-cost travellers.

Am I Eskimos? Very big problem with a hot water at shower. I was with my children and "so called" Hotel couldn't get warm water to they at any time. Staff was nice and helpfull.
I could left my baggage after check -out. Very noisy at night. That's the only OK. But wasn't TV, and INTERNET WI-FI.
Good location near Victoria Station about 5 min..
FLOP house
" budget " does not do justice to this accomodation! flop house would be more accurate. i think one might get better accomodation down the road in the salvation army. we arrived tired but excited to be in London after dragging our heavy bags ( 20 to 30 mins walk)to the golden star "hotel". there is no reception and the carpet all the way up the stairs were dirty. into our room.....i had booked a twin. what i got was a double bed against one wall, a tiny wardrobe, a horrible shower and toilet area and a filthy carpet.when i said that i wanted a twin the girl told me i could leave my bags( no chance!) and come back at 4 to talk to the manageress or wait in the room til then.i was with my young daughter and felt very insecure. we hightailed it out of there rapidly and went looking for another hotel . do not stay there...the photos must have been taken 20 years ago and i regret that we didn't take any.i know its cheap but its really horrible.
reasonable value - a bed for few money
We were there for three nights. The staff was nice and friendly, the hotel perfectly located.
The area is beautiful, many sites are just a short walk away and victoria station is just around the corner.
The rooms were okay, we got just what we've expected for the low price (Cheapest hotel we found).
We would recommend the place if you are looking for a cheap place where you can spend the night without further amenities.
a great hotel
i have been to this hotel about 4 times now with my girlfriend and everytime i have been here the staff have been very kind and the hotel itself is not bad itslef, everytime i have stayed here i have enjoyed my stay i think its very cozy and i would recomend it to others, what i have noticed it is under refurbishment which is great as its making the hotel a better place to stay, another thing i would like to mention it is in a great area and it close to many of the city life for the price the room's are being provided i think its afforadble great and the stay has always been pleasant when i stay at a hotel as long as i feel safe, clean and comfortable then i think the hotel is wonderful, it has always been a good stay, just one thing i didnt like was the noice from the refurbishment the first time but the times after that i realised they had brought improvements and the stay again was more pleasant i do adivce people to stay at the hotel it is a nice and affordable place.
