Great base to visit London, great place to stay
We stayed at the Greyhound because we couldnt stay at the Sutton Holiday Inn, and what a good choice it was, we stayed 3 nights booking in was quick and painless, we stayed in room 208, super king bed, 28inch flat screen tv with Sky Sports,, a 3 seat sofa, coffee table and 2 chairs, a small table and chair with comp' tea and coffee, and when we pulled the curtains on the bay window complete with a built in seat, the room overlooked Carshlton Ponds and the park.
Breakfast was to look forward to, full English served at the table, cereals croissants muffins fruit Juices were on a help your self basis.
Also the Pub is very nice to relax in the evening it has several bars and serves food all day there is a Restaurant if you dont want to eat in the bar and is of a high standard.
This Hotel is a youngs brewery Inn and I booked through the website, the price being cheaper than if you phone direct
Carshalton Railway station is a short walk and Victoria station 6 stops on about 25 min journey, and busses stop out side the hotel
Also the Woodman wine bar is worth a try a 2 min walk from the Greyhound
avoid
Had to wait for 5-10 minutes at the reception upon arrival and checking out as no one was there. Staff had trouble speaking english and not really interested in helping. Took ages to get some breakfast and the choice was very poor.
The main surprise came one week later when I received extra bill of 50 GBP for leaving cigarette burn marks in the room and being sick on the bed. Besides the fact that I'm quite sure it was not me (I don't smoke!!!), staff refused to investigate and never returned my calls. They did not have any issues charging my card though.
Nice little hotel
This is a really good value hotel - perfect for an alternative to a holiday inn / travel lodge. Its not boutique B&B but its very practical and good value for money - also lots of parking and easy to find.
The rooms are very clean and modern and are a good size. The service is super friendly and check in and checkout is swift and painless.
We didn't go into the pub itself - but it looked busy and nicely decorated. Breakfast was tasty and large servings - plus the restaurant had a really good ambience.
Would defiantly stay again and would definitely recommend it to others staying in that area – plus over the weekend its much cheaper than the Holiday Inn down the road!
Bit expensive
Needed to stay in area due to an early start next morning. Usually stay in very upmarket hotels but nothing fit the bill so thought we'd try the Pub option.
Don't get a cab from the station - mini-cab firm said "it's just down the road" and gues what, it really was!
Check-in and check-out was easy and friendly.
Pub itself wasn't particularly appealling, we had a drink in another one up the road and didn't fancy eating in the restaurant so ordered and had it delivered to room.
Food was good. Room was ok, spacious and clean althjough the curtains didn't do a very effective job of blocking out light and the bed was very soft. Shower was a bit hit and miss but once temperature found was powerful and, unlike curtains, effective.
Overall, I felt the cost of the room ws perhaps a little toppy - maybe £80-£90 would be more realistic. As it is, if we have to stay in area again, we're as likely go to a Premier Travle Inn to be honest as they're cheaper and in terms of rooms, not disimilar.
Great Hotel
I stayed at this hotel on a saturday night last weekend and I was very impressed. Speedy and friendly check in. Super clean room with tea and coffee making facilities. Good sized room and bathroom. Couldn't fault it. My room overlooked the car park but with the double glazing it was incredibly quiet. HUGE breakfast the next morning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
