We have just spent 4 nights at this hotel, and would certainly stay there again. The location is excellent, right on the riverside in Richmond, and both of our rooms had river views. The rooms were clean and quaint, and the size was fine. There was limited parking, but as the other hotels we have stayed in have had no parking, that was a bonus. Breakfast was excellent. A nice guest lounge with free internet use. Reception staff were helpful. The worst problem at reception were the other guests asking for impossible requests (i.e. would reception please organise train tickets and have them delivered to the hotel?) All in all I would recommend staying here.

Cheap and Cheerful!

I'm sitting here in a basic 'student room' and I've paid £30. I've got what I paid for which was somewhere to crash for the night with clean sheets and a big bath (down the hall).

I stay here once a week and it does me fine. If you want the Ritz then go there and get your wallet out. Don't expect luxury at these prices but it's a beautiful building and location if a bit basic on the inside. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Hair dryers and heaters available from reception. That's what sort of a place it is.

Rooms have tea.coffee.hot chocolate and buiscuts and the usual soaps and shampoos are supplied with clean towel, Sheets are starched and always immaculate.

This is an independant hotel with bags of character. Not your regular IBIS mas produced type and a bit a bit of an adventure.

To call itself a hotel is a joke, run down 1 star B&B more like! My family and I had a large group of wedding guests staying here for my brothers wedding in Richmond. I have to say staying at this Hotel ruined what was otherwise a joyous occasion and I feel quite strongly that future guests should be warned how terrible Hobart Hall is. To say it was run down and dilapidated would be an understatement (cold damp rooms and peeling wallpaper, no central heating and a tv that had no aerial so was unable to pick up any tv stations) and the attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired! The underside of my car was also almost ripped off due to the steep incline of the car park (which incidentally has enough space for a maximum of 4 cars).

A very shabby hotel, seems to need complete refurbishment.

Cracked and damp walls near to poorly fitted, loose electrical sockets. Cold bathroom with broken bath and dirty carpet. Draughty window and room door with inadequate lock.

Corridor floor dangerously uneven with torn carpet.

Unacceptable breakfast, had to make own drink with teabag in a cup!

Small, steep parking area.

This hotel is overpriced and certainly does not deserve its rating of 3 diamonds. We would not have stayed even one night if other accommodation was available.
