Sent me to a bad quality hotel without a proper explanation
I am always very cautious when choosing hotels and can easily spend hours looking for good hotels with nice reviews and at a reasonable rate. This case was not different, specially knowing that there are so many overpriced bad quality hotels in London.
So I was very disappointed when I arrived to check-in at Kensington Court and was informed that there was a "health and safety" issue with my room and they had to move me to another nearby hotel.
I tried to understand exactly what was the "health and safety" issue, but the receptionist refused to tell me.
They sent me to Oliver Hotel, where I had a terrible experience and in fact would have never stayed there if I had seen all the horrible reviews in Trip Advisor (I have already written a review for Oliver Hotel describing my experience there).
So I was very disappointed with this unacceptable mistake from Kensington Court and would never book a room there again. They should think more about there clients when they have to move them to another hotel.
Great Service
I originally booked this hotel with ratestogo.com.au and unfortunately booked the wrong date. Upon calling ratestogo, they informed me that I would be charged full price for this "cancellation" and would have to pay for a new booking (when I just wanted to change the date). Ratestogo informed me that they had spoken to the hotel and there was nothing they could do about it.
However, when I called the hotel directly they kindly changed my booking and it was hassle free. This is great service and I will definitely book this hotel again.
Clean Room Great Location
Location good, quiet street yet close to Earles Court train station. Nice private garden at the end of the street. Room clean, bathroom adequate. Staff very helpful and stored our luggage while we walked up to Kensington to shop on our final day.
Great Place to stay and Great Value!
just returned from a 4 day 3 night stay at the Kensington. I recommend this hotel highly for people on a budget. We stayed in a triple that had a double and a pull out sofa. the "double" was a nice size and was larger than my queen bed at home! The room is small which is standard for european hotels but easily accommodated three people. Hotel was clean with good service. hotel is located within a 3 minute walk to Earls Court Underground Tube station which is conveniently on the District and Picadilly Lines which will get you in to the city within 10 minutes easily. dont hesitate to book this hotel!!
Can't fault this for location and value
CARE: there are 2 Kensinton Court Hotels in London, this one is Nevern Place in Earls Court, the other is in Bayswater!
My husband and I have just returned from a 3 day trip to London to visit the Chelsea Flower Show. I trawled all the usual websites eg. laterooms, lastminute etc. etc., and felt that anything decent was over £100 per night. A chance comment on a tv travel programme said forget search sites, get on the phone and haggle for the best deals, so that's just what I did.
One phone call later to the Kensington Court Hotel resulted in a deal struck for £70 per night including breakfast. At that price, I was concerned, but all fears were completely groundless.
The hotel in Earls Court, part of the Crystal hotel group, is just 2 minutes walk from Earls Court underground station and there are plenty of buses on Earls Court Road and 2 minutes to more buses on Comwell Road. If you want to eat locally, there are lots of restaurants, pubs etc., on the Earls Court Road itself.
Our room, number 15 is on the second floor, facing the quiet and elegant Nevern Place. Very spacious with twin beds - pushed together to make a kingsize - and a bed settee. Very clean and all the facilities you would expect, mini bar (with sensible prices), hairdryer, plenty of tea and coffee etc., tv with several chanels. Good, comfortable beds with squeaky clean white cotton linen. 4 plump pillows provided. Bathroom was very clean but the chrome bathtaps could do with a bit of de-scaling. Slight problem with a loose hot tap on the sink, but otherwise everything OK and a good selection of Gilchrist and Soames complimentary toiletries. Pleased to see towels were white, crispy clean 2 good sized bath sheets as well as larger than average hand towels and a nice touch of a couple of face cloths.
Breakfast was quite a treat - much more than you would expect for a continental breakfast at this price and you could pay a bit extra for a full English. 2 choices of fruit juice, good selection of cereals, fresh and tinned fruit, yoghurts, boiled egs, wide selection of pastries and breads, hot toast and all the usual preserves, cheese etc. The restaurant was modern and bright and the staff very attentive without crowding you.
Every single member of staff we encountered, from reception to restaurant had a smile on their faces. Either they had all had a great pay rise or they have an exceptional general manager running a very happy establishment.
We are very regular visitors to London both on business and for leisure trips. We have stayed in 5 stars that could learn a lot from the Kensington Court - particularly with regard to happy staff and the breakfast provided. We have also paid a lot more for some pretty disgraceful places that should know better.
In short, Highly Highly recommended, but get on the phone and strike a deal and you will be very pleasantly surprised. We will be back soon, very soon!
