Description

Located in the heart of Theatreland in the West End of London, this five star iconic hotel - which has always been synonymous with style and elegance – is celebrating its Centenary in 2008. An investment of £35 million included all bedrooms, the Palm Court restored to its former glory and brand new lobby, meeting rooms, bar, patisserie and restaurant. The design concept enhances the listed features of its Edwardian creators yet achieves a look that is both distinctly elegant yet avant-garde. The exhilarating redesign successfully blends contemporary luxury within the hotel’s classical setting. The Waldorf Hilton’s 300 bedrooms, including six suites, have been refurbished in line with two exclusive bedroom themes: ‘Contemporary’ and ‘Design’. All rooms feature Ligne Roset beds, pique linen, duvets, A/C, power showers, plasma screen televisions and high-speed Internet access.

Hotel guests also enjoy complimentary access to a private members health club located on property that features a 14-metre swimming pool in the original Masonic temple, sauna, steam rooms and an extensive fitness suite.

Stayed for my birthday, on a King Executive room package including 1st evening dinner.

Booked in approx 4pm and were asked what time we would like to go for dinner. We said 8 - 8.30pm. "sorry we are a bit busy then can we make it 9pm" By 9.35 pm we cancelled dinner as we still had not got into the restaurant.

The executive lounge had great snacks and a young couple heavily petting in the middle of the room on the sofa. Tables were waiting ages to be cleared, guests were doing it themselves. The following morning at breakfast there were children running around.

For the room, we asked for a low floor, with bath. We got a diabled room. When we asked to move, we were shown 2 internal rooms (no windows) which both smelled heavily of smoke. On calling the housekeeper they found us another room, with a window we could see out of, but no bath. Four times we had been told that "you have been upgraded to a king executive" and we had not been upgraded. We paid for a King Executive.

Bathroom dangerous as water everywhere from the shower.

No table and chairs to sit at, just a desk and chair or a dreadful chaise longe which was awful. No where to put bags or cases except on the floor. I made coffee on the ironing board as the kettle is in the cupboard over the ironing board. No surfaces to put any cups and saucers on.

There were two water stains on the cieling, the decor was shades of grey highlighted with orange. The room gave my husband nightmares. The bed space area was tiny - even for two.

The car valet service appeared to be excellent, until we wanted the car back. The concierge said he had not been told to get it. We were sat with the lady when she telephoned him.

When we complained, no one listened. We have had no compensation such as a refund for the dinner which we did not get. We have had a voucher for a one night stay (non-transferrable).

Why would we want to go back to a hotel where no one wanted to listen to the guests, who were only trying to get what they had paid for!

We have since stayed at the Guoman at Tower Bridge and had a lovely room, which was only a standard room, but they did offer us free upgrade to a superior room.

Well after staying at the Waldorf on many occasions and been very pleased with everything, We booked 2 rooms for this weekend trip On this visit there where a few thing that where not what they should have been. Dinner in the Grand Salon Restaurant the food quility was excellent {that is the 2 courses out of 3 we did get} Service was very poor {bits floating in my wine the waiter wanted to argue what was floating in it, asked for bottle water twice, had to ask for a soup spoon for my soup, other drinks that were ordered did not arrive until second time of asking, ordered desserts and informed they would take 10 mins to prepare, 25minutes later told that they would be 6 to 8 minutes,we did not have time to wait as we where going to see a show. 30 minutes is far to long to wait for a dessert} we told them that we were going to a show. Was then told sort of sorry!! we will remove the charge for your drinks} then Charged for the 3 courses told them no way and left did not have time time to talk about it would have missed the show. Spoke to the Guest Relations manager about this the next morning, see said the drinks charge had been removed {L14.00}, and would speak to the restaurant manager about this. I did expect a reply but did not get one.To add insult to injury when we went to check out the drinks bill had been added back on my bill, When i complained receptionist spoke to duty manager on the phone then removed it. The other minor things were the shower did not work in one room and floorboard under carpet in other room was broken and you could easliy have twisted your ankle, As i have said above food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. just a few things that should never happen at a 5 star hotel. I have stayed at many hilton hotels and Resorts all over the world {I AM HHONORS GOLD VIP} and if i have ever had any issues they have always been put right during my stay, SADLY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN AT THE WALDORF..

The room was very tiny, only partly renovated (so one could see, were new furniture/items had been placed). Otherways everything ok, but not above it. Any luxury? No way.

My husband booked this hotel for one night for my birthday as we were going to the theater that evening. We arrived earlier than check in but were shown to our room straight away which was good.

The room was very modern with glass bathroom which was stunning. My husband had arranged flowers to be delivered by the hotel and they were beautiful.

The shower in the bathroom was lovely although it did leave us with a very wet bathroom floor all evening as the shower door is not a tight fit!

We ate in the hotel restaurant which was fantastic and the service was superb particularly as we didn’t have too long to eat because of the theatre.

Everything was going well until we decided to go to bed! We noticed on returning to our room about 11.30 that the door to the suite next door to us was open and what looked like a drinks reception/private party was taking place. What we didn’t realise was that the noise from this was to keep us awake! Unfortunately the party decided to move into the corridor and outside our bedroom door, what also made matters worse was there was an adjoining door between our room ad the suite which escalated the noise even more.

My husband called reception after midnight to find out when the party was due to end. He was told midnight and that reception would send security up to the room. After another 20 minutes the noise certainly hadn’t died down and had in fact increased! My husband again called reception and asked to speak to the manager who said that the party was due to finish at 1am and not midnight as we previously was told. My husband wanted an assurance from reception that the party would then definitely finish. No such assurance could be given and the suggestion was that we moved rooms! My husband was keen to avoid having to do this as we were in bed and all our belongings were in our current room. After several more calls we moved rooms which meant getting dressed and walking through all the people outside our bedroom door! A member of staff showed us to our new room on a different floor, no mention of an apology, in fact he didn’t speak at all!!! Whilst this room was not next to a party it was on the main road so one noise was swapped for another!

The following morning we got dressed and returned to our original room before breakfast/. Breakfast was good but could have done with seconds!!

My husband spoke to reception that morning about our experience the night before and was offered a free upgrade on our next return. Needless to say we were not impressed. It is an expensive hotel and not somewhere we could stay at in the near future so the offer was worthless. Upon return my husband emailed the hotel and was finally offered 50% off our next stay which I believe still doesn’t make up for the fact that the hotels simplest option was to move my husband and me rather than do anything to stop the party or at least make sure they didn’t spill out into the corridor. Why put anyone in a room next door to a room where you know there will be in party!

I just felt extremely sorry for my husband who didn’t get the quiet night away for my birthday which he had planned.

Fulham football and tour last weekend. We stumbled into a great 3 night rate that made this hotel a great choice. Center of everything, nice lobby with plenty of helpful staff . Room is basic but bath is nice. Floor in 506 has a creaky floor but the worst thing is the daily 6:30AM wakeup you get when the trashman dumps all the empties from the pubs previous night into the truck. We're returning in April for the London Marathon and f I could get the same price I'd stay here in a minute.
