Excellent hotel
After reading the reviews on this site I was a bit sceptical about the star rating and picked it mainly for location and also price as the rate online was the same as the laterooms.com rate.
I was pleasantly surprised right from stepping in there I was greeted with smiles, checkin was effortless, offered help with baggage. Room was lovely, my only complaint was the window catch didn't shut properly but the room was very well furnished bed enormous, fridge well stocked, bath/shower hot and powerful. What more could you need??? Excellent location for a weekend stay as it's so accessible to Green Park station or walkable to the West End. Very quiet as it's tucked away off the main drag.
Breakfast was very good, good selection, buffet style by the coffee arrived within 1 minute and the toast within 4 minutes.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for location, price, staff, food quality and room and will be visiting again!!! Thoroughly recommended.
A real bummer
I stayed in the said Hotel during 22.2.2009 till 4.3.2009. I visited London thrice, stayed in Crown Plaza and Strand Palace Hotel earlier, however this time it was not at all a good experience. This time I was at The Washington Mayfair Hotel.
To begin I was allotted a room in the Hotel after 8 hours of wait. And finally when I got my room I saw that the room was not at all properly prepared for my stay. The carpet was wet when I checked in. Odor of wine was felt in the room during my initial 24 hours of stay.
Room services, breakfast, everything was sub standard.
I wrote each and everything in the feedback form there. Later on after my arrival in India, the then manager apologized for this on telephone. But still I was perplexed on the issue that is it the way a four star London hotel supposed to be?
Wonderful location, great hotel, great staff
Our study abroad program stayed at Washington Mayfair Hotel and enjoyed our stay greatly. The hotel made us feel welcomed, served us delicious breakfasts, gave us great rooms with heated bathroom floors, towel bars and comfortable accommodations. The new rooms were nicely appointed. The staff and management were professional, welcoming and helpful. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. I thank them for their graciousness with all the students who were coming and going at all hours. This location is perfect for theatre, art, and cultural excursions. We could walk almost everywhere. Great inexpensive eating in the neighborhood with pubs and some restaurants.
The Washington Mayfair
When I took a study abroad trip to London, we found out we were staying at the Washington Mayfair in the Mayfair district of the City of Westminster. The hotel's location is great, only about two blocks from the Green Park Underground stop. I gave it such a good rating because of the deal the hotel gave our program (CCSA). Everything was average room wise, but the help of the hotel was exceptional.
certainly NOT 4 star
Draughty room on a loud street with an office block looking into our room. We had to keep the curtains closed during the day. Luke warm water in the morning for a bath. Breakfast, english fry, was luke warm. Hotel bar characterless.
Location was great and the room, apart from the aforesaid comment, was smart.
